hole in air condenser caused by a pebble

Took my car to Bellamy Strickland and was told it was my condenser. I was not shown the damage but the gm customers service line said the dealer says there's a nickel size hole in my condenser. I found the damage, it's nowhere near a size of a nickel as you can see from the picture. If the condenser can be damaged that easily there should be a grill to protect the condenser.

New 2016 Malibu with 3500 miles. Air Conditioner stopped blowing cool air due to hole in Air Condenser. Dealer said Road Hazard and not covered under warranty. Hole was the size of a pebble. BEWARE - Air Condenser on 2016 Malibu has no protection or guard in the front grill .There is a wide open space allowing anything from the road to fly into the space and destroy the condenser. POOR TERRIBLE DESIGN. Cost $727.00 to repair. Called GM Customer Service - they said too bad, sorry. I advised that a change in the design adding a protector screen in front of air condenser would solve problem. They said too bad, sorry. BUYER BEWARE. Without an added screen this issue can be a very expensive repeated problem.

Update from Jun 14, 2016: New 2016 Malibu with 3500 miles. Air Conditioner stopped blowing cold air. Small hole in Air Condenser, Mfg said road hazard and not covered under warranty. $727.00 to repair. Shouldn't mfg be responsible for a design to protect key internal components? Could happen again and again. Why is there no screen type insert to protect against something as small as a flying pebble?
