Vehicle will shut down after auto stop enabled when car comes to complete stop at lights, intersections, etc. Vehicle will also shut down while driving. Stalitrak warning blinks but the electrical power inside doesn't always shut down. Car will start back up once you quickly put the vehicle in park, shut it off and then turn it back on. Sometimes it takes 3-5 times to get it started back up. Battery has been changed and sensor replaced but it still hasn't fixed the issue. Severely uncomfortable driving the car anywhere.

Everytime I stop at a red light or brake the vehicle(when coming to a stop in traffic)the car completely cuts off.the alert steering assist is reduced, drive with care constantly comes on whenever there is an auto stop and the car restarts. The radio and air would also turn off when auto stop is activated. This turn off also causes the radio screen to go black for a short time until it restarts. Which is a big problem and dangerous when driving in traffic. The normal auto stop would be somewhat silent, but when it turns back on now it hisses and turns back on. I also hear something as if water is passing through pipes after and/or during auto stop sometimes. Lastly, last night(7/8/20)I attempted to turn on my car and back out of my driveway. The car turned on but the check engine light came on. It did not allow me to shift into any gears or accelerate. I noticed the lights that illuminate, D, R, L, etc. Was not illuminating at that time when I attempted to shift gears. I then turned the car off but it stated shift to park. Note the car was in park. After I let it sit in park for a while I tried restarting the car and it restarted. The car shifted in to gears and accelerated. Note: The car allowed me to move the shift in and out of gears but it was not catching. The stopping issue wit the steering reduced alert started about two weeks ago(around June 25,2020). Hearing the water sound began around the the beginning of March 2020. Lastly the shifting issue began last night,7/8/20. When driving on the highway I do the speed limit 60-70 mph. On the city streets I drive the speed limit ranging 25mph-40 mph.

My 2017 Chevy Malibu has periodically showed a reduced power mode alert in the dash while driving and then the car drops down to under 40 mph and when I push the gas it won't accelerate. The check engine light comes on every time but within days it goes off and drives fine until it happens again with no warning. My husband was driving 70 on the interstate when it first happened and almost wrecked because of it! I have called the dealership where they tell me they don't know why it's doing it and to just bring it in. I had the engine codes pulled and was told it was a sensor and acceleration pedal. I've read several posts about what's wrong with it and everyone says even after having it fixed it goes out again within time. It's really dangerous when yours driving at high speeds with traffic then the car randomly try's to shut down and Chevy is not concerned at all about finding a permanent fix!

On November 27, my wife was driving the Malibu at 55 mph on the highway when she experienced loss of engine power, down to 20 mph.. traffic backed up and came to screeching slow down. She ferried for her safety and pulled over in heavy traffic. She shut engine off and restarted vehicle to continue drive home at no more than 30 mph. Contacted dealer and they could not get to it till following week. She did not drive it anymore. Diagnosis at dealer was bad accelerator switch. They did not have any and said it maybe months because of this big problem. My car was down 15 days for this problem befor it was fixed.

Engine light on continually and never went off; I drove to dealer who said the gas cap area of fuel line was leaking; needs to be replaced they said and tried to order it from GM but they do not have the part; they ordered the part and cannot tell me when it is coming. They could not advise me on the safety of this condition. I know someone who had a similar problem with their model car. Can I drive this or should the dealer give me a loaner? I am still under the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. We have always had problems filling the car and it is never completely full. We have brought it to dealer several times about this with no advise. They did recalibrate one time. They said it was an issue with the dash board reporting less gas than is in the tank. Please let me know about this as we continue to drive the car.

I purchased a 2017 Chevy Malibu in April 2017 with 11 miles. In less than a month, the car started having issues. Took the vehicle into the dealership for inspection with the initial problem being the O2 sensor they updated the software and it was noted GM would monitor the concern and has been an ongoing issue since. The problems are as follows: Dashboard goes blank while driving, codes: P0036, P0037, P0138, P0141, P2097 X3; P2122, P2127, P2138, accelerator pedal replaced X3 within a two month time frame with throttle harness being replaced on the third time, reduced engine power to 20 mph while driving, scanning noise coming from engine while vehicle is both in the on/off position; still have no explanation of the problem. The sound will sometimes occur before reduced engine power. While the car was under warranty, the issues were not addressed and were no longer GM's concern after the warranty expired. I filed a BBB claim to help resolve the ongoing problems with the vehicle. The BBB awarded the decision that GM is to repair any issues with the throttle, accelerator pedal, and emissions with four attempts to do so.

I have a recurring emission issue diagnostic test code P2097 General Motors has admitting to not knowing what is wrong with my vehicle. I purchased the vehicle brand new the emission issue is ongoing recurring and my vehicle is up for state inspection for which it will not pass, this issue began at mile 3007 I've owned the car for less than 2 years. The vehicle came without air conditioning for which it was equipped that issue begin at mile 598. I have had multiple systems issues. I have lost my job over this car this issue has not been corrected with several attempts to repair it. I want General Motors to repurchase the vehicle with no usage being charged. This has been an issue that is caused my personal life and my professional life severe distress. I literally have lost everything after having lost my job over this defective vehicle. The vehicle had an accelerator pedal assembly replaced which prior to that my car was going into limp mode / safe mode constantly. This is an issue General Motors is aware of and has continued to sell this model vehicle with its known defects which in my opinion is extremely dangerous given the resulting characteristics the car displays once going into reduced engine power / limp mode this would occur while driving on the highway early morning late night hours I would have to pull over unexpectedly and suddenly, unhook my battery terminals and reset the computer manually. It would happen on side streets, on main roads, sitting in rush hour traffic, etc. At one point my car began displaying characteristics of losing power steering, engaging the auto stop/start function and not re-engaging the vehicle upon acceleration for which it was intended. I lost power steering in a turn one time and almost crashed in brookline Massachusetts a heavily travelled pedestrian area

Intermittent issue while driving at highway speeds (70mph) car will pop up service stabilitrak error message on front display, the traction control light will illuminate, while cel begins flashing. At this time, car will lose power and speed will begin to fall. Continuing to depress accelerator in an attempt to maintain speed will cause car to shudder. Entire incident lasts only 1-2 minutes, before drivability returns. In-the-moment onstar diagnostics show no issues. Purchased car brand new; only been serviced at the original dealership, only use shell V-power gasoline. 1st incident- dealer said wet roads/rain to blame; did not run diagnostics, did not attempt to service 2nd incident- dealer noted cylinder 3 misfire, swapped coil pack and spark plugs on cylinders 1 and 3, changed oil. 3rd incident- on my way home from dealership following above service, dealer noted cylinder 3 misfire, opened a case with GM, and performed decarbon service to engine, said carbon build-up to blame. 4th incident- dealer noted general engine misfire code, along with several communications errors codes; replaced ECM and reprogrammed car. Dealership told me using non-top tier gas is to blame. Car has total of 27K miles on it- issue began to occur around 15K miles. I have dashcam video and all service records.

I purchased the 2017 Malibu in 2017 and currently have about 24000 miles on it. In the past three months (since December 2018) my check engine light has turned on and been serviced for the code P2097: Post catalyst fuel trim system high limit. I was told after the first visit to the dealership that it was a software problem that needed updating. However, it should not be turning on every few hundred miles. The light turns on after highway travel. My specific Malibu also needed the hydraulic valve lash adjusters replaced due to the exhaust valves not sealing, this was supposedly corrected in December as well.

Engine light came on, lack of power to engine. Was driving 68 mph when it occurred on Georgia 400. Car was taken to dealership, and diagnosed with a pedal sensor issue. The part is on back order because so many Malibu's have this issue. This should be a recall issue
