The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. While the vehicle was in the park position, it automatically shut off with a false reading and was unable to recognize the original vehicle key. The contact had to wait several minutes until the computer auto reprogrammed. The dealer stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
