problem #2

Mar 012017

Monte Carlo LT 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 123,000 miles

Passenger door won't open from the inside or outside. Dash reads Driver's side door is open, and interior lights stay on and wear out the battery. Had to pull the interior lights fuse. Driver's side door hinge bushings were replaced, but door still reads, "Driver's side door open," and bends the metal of the car in front of the door. I believe the holes in hinge may be oval-shaped instead of round, due to wear from heavy door. Driver's side door has, at times, not opened when I was in the car. I was able to get out the passenger side door. Now the passenger side door won't open from inside or out. I'm afraid I will get locked into my car, unable to open either door. Scary and dangerous, especially if there were a crash with fire, and no way to get out.

Monte Carlo LT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 17,061 miles

I have to basically use too much force to push the door open and away from the car as I exit and quickly brace myself in case the door suddenly decides it's hungry and tries to close on me like a trap.
