I have a 2000 Chevy S10 pickup with 15,000 miles on it. These vehicles are made to run on gas or ethanol. Chevy put an experimental lining into the gas tank to prevent corrosion by the ethanol. This lining flakes off into the gas, causing staggering and stalling while driving. Requests for a new gas tank have been refused by GMC, although the vehicle is now in for what will probably be the third tank and fuel system cleaning. It took a letter from the ct state attorney general's office to get an extended warranty for the vehicle. This vehicle is not safe to be on the road with this gas tank on it, and since the tow truck driver that towed it in last night could accurately diagnose the problem without driving it, I should think that there are a significant number of unsafe vehicles on the road. I feel it is only pressure from your office that will force GMC to recall these vehicles for gas tank replacement before someone is killed when their vehicle dies as they are driving at highway speeds. I do not know how many years if vehicles received these gas tanks, but if ever a problem warranted your attention, I think this one does.
