clearcoat and paint problems

The clear coat on our truck looks horrible...This truck is my husbands baby and it gets regular maintenance and is washed and waxed and dried religiously...Of course as soon as its out of warranty the clear coat starts to bubble. I have seen other trucks from the same year with this same problem and I think there should be something done for everyone having this problem...

clearcoat and paint problems

Truck bed and wheel well rusting. Began with wheel well paint bubbling then rusting and is continuing inside the bed of truck and underneath. Called GM regarding problem and truck was still under warranty and nothing would be done unless rusted through. Truck is parked in garage during winter weather.

I have a 2007 Silverado that the paint is lifting (blistering) on the rear fenders above the rear wheels. Well maintained truck. No chips. The paint just blistered. Dealer looked at it and pretty much blew me off. Chevy listened to my complaint and pretty much blew me off. I've read reports of shops fixing the paint with rust coming through in a short period of time. Anyone with a fix? Or do I get rid of the truck and wait another 10 to 15 years for GM to cycle the problem through. Sorry, but I remember the paint troubles of the mid 70's to the 80's. 5 year old Chevy's bodies turned into a rusty rag.

My 2007 new model Silverado ltz crew cab has developed rust bubbles on both rear fender wells, the truck is well maintained only has 80000 miles, 6 months out of body warranty. General Motors admitted there is a problem with these trucks but refuses to take care of rust, they said they will only pay 45% of the cost. I live in a small town and have already found several 2007 Silverados with same rust problem. In a few months this truck will loose a lot of its value for trade in purposes. I don't think i should have to pay for a Defect in the body that GM is aware of but refuses to take care of problem properly.

I have been faithful GM owner for over 50 years but could be coming to an end. I have looked at the other truck manufacturers and have found no rust or complaints of rust, Ford, Dodge , Toyota, Nissan. If I trade now it is still going to cost me big bucks .

I noticed after a year and only 10000 miles that I had several chips. I had noticed this problem with my other vehicle, 2003 honda Civic. I understand that rocks and road debris will chip the finish, but this was in excess. The paint adhesion really seems to be an issue. I would like to know if anyone else has this problem.

I brought my 2007 silverado in to a local body shop for damage on the hood, windshield, and roof from a rock. The painter noticed approx twenty cracks in the hood and more on the roof. He called them crows feet, which occur from applying too much paint to the surface or multiple applications. I had noticed two small areas when I would wash the truck. I thought it was a hair in the clear coat or a scratch. When the painter scraped one down, he found three coats of paint. The painter said this occurred at the dealership repairing damage or at the factory. I have since called the dealership that I bought the truck from. The service manager was very professional and did listen to my complaint. He did send his dealerships painter to the body shop the same morning I filed the complaint. The service manager said he would work with me since I bought the vehicle from them and have done all the service work with them. He did mention that typically paint is warrantied 3 months/36000 miles, but this did have extenuating circumstances. I ll keep everyone updated. The hoods estimate was 538.00 to strip the hood completely down. The top of the truck will probably come close to that. Ill update when I get more info. If this wrong is not made right, this will be the last time I buy chevrolet. Lets see what happens.

Well back in the paint shop again. The clear was coming off. It was a few day out of warranty. The dealer did not want to help with the problem. It took a lot of fight on my part to get them to cover it. Pain in the ass. You spend that much money on a truck you think that it would last. Now my truck is starting to look like a dalmation with all the painting that has gone on the truck. Would like them to re paint the whole thing but don't think tha'ts going to happen. So I guess chevy paint only is only supposed to last a couple of years and then it goes to crap.

Hey again hey to say the my truck has to go back into the paint shop again. This time it was rusting around the light on the back of the cab. Man I am starting to think that Chevy has a problem with their paint. They need to fix it fast.

The spot was on the roof about the size of a quarter. I noticed it while waxing the truck. Its not visible unless you climb up top but, If I know its there, it will bother me forever. I'm a little OCD so it kinda bothers me more than others. The dealership re-painted the roof due to the spot being under the clear coat.
