Silverado 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 118,000 miles

Stablitrak will shut off when driving and it will flash service. Dealership said they have no clue. It will randomly do this and then warning light will shut off 5 seconds later.... multiple problems with the truck to include all the gauges going crazy, locks going off and on, etc. I've seen a lot of complaints about these same issues and have reported the other one.

Silverado 1500 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 26,000 miles

Bought this truck in late 2009 and all seemed fine until at about 20,000 miles the stabilitrac off light came on and the truck ran like crap (real rough and shakey and clunking like parts were being damaged). I was near home so I limped it there and made a service appt. When I restarted the truck it wasn't as bad but the light was still on.The dealer replaced the throttle body and this fixed the problem.Unfortunately about 6 mnths and 6,000 miles later this same problem reared up again. You wouldn't expect to have these kind of problems with new vehicles, especially babied ones.I also bought two new chev trucks back in the 80's ,and thought they were junk too.I just hope this is not gonna keep happening. Maybe I didn't learn my lesson! Or did I ?

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,809 miles

i had been called out to work in the evening..went and did my thing ..i always start the truck with the remote start while i walk to it across the parking lot..didnt start, no biggie,,got in started with the key and the damn thing went phsyco ..the instrument panel and gages went hay wire..service stabilitrak, stabilitrak off and , reduced power mode is what the message center was telling me. still drivable so i wnt home not being able to go over 40 mph. next day just the engine light was on drove fine.. the day after that while driving around town it did it again. had dealer come and get. even tho it reset the next day again.. they half-ass drove it a few miles and couldnt replicate the scene. i got mad and told them you gotta drive it past the parking lot to see what is happening with it.

so they had it for 4 days drove it 150 miles and stil couldnt get it to do it again. i now have it at home again with a data recorder they hooked up to. trying this out for a week.. i drove home about 80 miles from dealer no problem. i think they did find something and wont tell me what it was and hoping it wont happen again till after the warrenty expires. i found a lot of other GM vehicles with the same problem..but no solutions..i think there is a cover up going here. i have a friend who had an 2009 2500 sierra.. same problem except it happened to him doing 80mph on the interstate..he said it was like slaming on the brakes. they couldnt find his problem either. so he got fed up and traded it for a ford f150. i think i am going to go and trade in on a dodge.

any help would be appreciated i really like this truck but i aint going to finish paying 30 grand for something that will leave me hanging like that. i could go on but i'm tired.. thanks for reading me..laterz ..marty
