Silverado 1500 Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 33,000 miles

Since 2012, my family has bought 8 brand new Chevy vehicles from the same dealership in Ohio, which is right at $300,000. 4 2013 Silverados and 4 new Equinoxes, no problems with the Equinoxes, but the Silverados is another story.

I travel for a living so I have quite a few miles on my 2013 Silverado. The day I picked up the truck it was all nice and beautiful but as I put miles on the vehicle there are ripples showing up in the top of the bed rail, looks like golf ball size hail dents all along the top of the bed rail, both sides. All 4 of the trucks we bought are having this issue, the ones with less miles have less dents but as you put miles on the vehicle the more the dents show up in the top of the bed rail. If you really start to look at the entire vehicle closely you can see many ripples in several different places; every wheel well has them (small but still there), around the back passenger windows, same thing.

I have gone to several different dealerships looking at the same model of truck, guess what, they are doing the same thing,,,, ummmm?? Maybe, just maybe, this is a manufacturer defect? And guess what else, you cannot buy a 2014 Silverado without a top bed rail plastic guard on it,,, ummmm maybe, just maybe, GM is trying to hide a manufacturer defect. I took the issue to the dealership where we bought the vehicles and they basically told me sorry about your luck, you bought what you bought, They were overly happy to take my families money, but to go back with an issue was not received very well, they basically did not want to hear it and ended the conversation with, CALL GM.

So I call GM, they tell me to take it to the dealership, wow, unreal..... I bought a 2004 Ford F150 brand new off the lot, had the truck 5 years, never had this issue with the Ford, same with the Dodge. I owned only these new Silverado`s.... Anyone else heard of this problem? Think I am joking, stop buy a used car lot and look at any 2013 Silverado that does not have the plastic rail guard on it and you will see..... Help,,,,, Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?
