It is peeling off on the roof, at the back of the cab on the passenger side almost where the roof line rounds down to the back window. This is not a location that is affected by road materials

2015 Silverado 1500 started peeling paint yesterday. Went to dealer where I bought it and they said out of warranty so on me to fix. I asked if GM only cares their paint last 6-7 years and dealer rep gave me a number to call. I did and it was for roadside assistance. I called GM customer service in Michigan and they basically said the same thing. I searched internet for similar problems and found a class action lawsuit related to paint problems with 2015-2019 Silverado's. Will keep an eye on that. It's Riley etl vs GM in Florida Case 6:22-cv-00499, Riley et al

I bought my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 late in 2015. I owned 5 Silverados before I finally bought my 2015 brand new - it was the first brand new vehicle I ever bought. I wash it so much and take such good care of it, people would tell me I’m gonna wash the paint off of it. It seemed funny to hear until the paint actually started bubbling on the fender, wells on the rear both sides, and now the passenger back door had the paint bubble and as I washed it the bubble blew off and now it’s rusting.

I’m still paying for this truck. I first leased it for the 3 years then changed it to buy it when the lease ran out. I’m a fanatic when it comes to my truck - if I drive it in the snow, I’m at the car wash pressure washing the underneath like a nut job. I planned on owning this truck my entire life - I’m a full fledged Chevy man, I owned 5 corvettes and have a 2002 Z06 right now. It’s my hobby cleaning and taking care of my car and truck but it’s at the point it’s embarrassing. it’s rusting bad on both wheel wells and on the bed. It’s not fair and I feel Chevrolet should put a new bed on it and repair the door and go over the rest of the horrible paint job or give me a new truck I love my truck but definitely not happy on what’s going on already. I see trucks that are 10 years older with no rust, so it has something to do with poor workmanship. Someone please help a Chevy nut!!!

The paint started to bubble mid last summer and then started to peel after I washed the truck. After speaking with a friend that owns a body shop, his comment is peeling paint is standard equipment on white GM trucks. He has seen this peeling occur on other parts of vehicles after painting a different body panel (even though the common spot of paint peeling is on the door frames -- I only have four doors to peel).

Paint should not be peeling off a vehicle in less than 7 years. I have not ever had this on any other vehicle through out my life (luckily I didn't own a mid 90s GM truck). I bought the truck new. It has been good other than the 8 speed trans. But here I am complaining about the paint.

It's time for GM to paint the vehicle at their cost....

BTW... No GM - it was not a paint chip that I ignored.

Bought this truck with a few miles on it, brand new. I keep it clean and use it moderately. I do put lots of miles on it at 80k and its only two years old. The paint is chipping off dime sized pieces on door and roof. It's very concerning due to rust issues in the near future. I shouldn't have to pay thousands of dollars on a new paint job when the truck is this new.

The paint on this 2015 seems to be very thin. Every time I wash, which is by hand always, I find more small chips of paint aprox the size pencil lead. Very, Very annoying. I take pride in what my vehicle look like and this sucks. My dealer says there is no warranty for chips.

Silverado 1500 2LT Midnight Edition 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

I bought a truck with the off road package Z71 2LT Silverado Midnight edition because I wanted to use my truck as a truck, driving in gravel road for hunting/fishing. In the first year, never went in those kind of road, staying on asphalt. What was my surprise on April, after the winter driving, when I washed my truck from winter salt, to discover than my front bumper paint was chipping. There were like 20 paint chips on the front bumper, of 1/4 inch diameter. The paint chips were completly gone, exposing the steel of every chips.

I checked with some friends than bought a similar truck and they had the same issue. I met the dealer and they accepted to paint the front bumper once, to put it back like new. They suggested me to buy a plastic wrap to protect the bumper from rock. I will install the wrap, to let me use my "off road" truck as a light duty off road truck... Seem like the color paint bumper seem to be less resistent to rock projection than chrome bumper...

I had an excellent service from my dealer, Nicol Auto, but I am a bit disappointed with the paint quality of my truck...
