Had my truck parked for 5 hours at my grandparents went to leave and had no power steering and the service power steering message came on the dash when I started it in the driveway. I checked the power steering fluid and it was full. So I turned the truck off and let it sit for a few minutes and started it back up again and power steering was still out. I turned the truck off again and let it sit for a few minutes started it back up and the power steering was still out but I was able to steer easier than before so I drove home. Also at the same time the service ESC message came on along with the light on the dash. The second time restarting the truck the service ESC message and light went away. The recall that was to fix this issue had already been completed on my truck. I have been having transmission issues as well where the truck will jerk into second gear and when slowing down from 2nd to first it will jerk again. Took it to the dealership and they said there was no bulletins on this and nothing they can do. I asked the service guy then why does the transmission shift rough if there is nothing wrong? I quote "the new transmissions in these trucks are supposed to shift that way".

My 2019 Silverado is less than a year old and has 8,000 miles. I was backing into my driveway when it just shut off. Everything on the dash was visible as if the engine was still running. I tried to start the truck again and it would sound like it was trying to start but the engine would never start. The service ESC can on and low power to the engine. My truck sat halfway in the start while waiting for a tow truck to come get the truck.

Silverado 1500 8-cyl

  • 13,236 miles
The truck was driven to the store, it was parked for roughly 20 mins. There was no issue with driving to the store. Upon returning to the truck and starting it in the store parking lot the digital display indicated that power steering service was required and ESC service was required. After seeing this the driver tried to turn the wheel but had no power steering so they turned the truck off and let it sit for two minutes. The truck was restarted and the same fault information was displayed. The driver turned the vehicle off again, waited one to two minutes again, and restarted. The same faults were shown. The driver referenced the owners manual in an attempt to troubleshoot the problem. There was no solution in the manual. The truck was then driven back to the house 1.9 miles with no power steering. The truck was at the dealership service center and received services one week prior to this incident. The dealership did not say or show any faults during its services. Had this happened while the vehicle was moving and the driver did not have the strength to turn the wheel without assistance this could have been extremely dangerous.

  • 12,600 miles
Add me to the service ESC group.... 12600 miles 2019 Silverado 5.3 this happened after the recall was completed at my local Chevy dealer, the truck through code P25A2 (the engine and transmission system is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the engine electrical system, including the charging and starting system that monitors and controls the engine starting system and 12V battery charging system. If the charge system light stays on, or comes on while driving, there may be a problem with the electrical charging system. Driving while this light is on could drain the battery. Several other lights came on as well, tc, break towing ect. A message stating use caution, do not drive over 62 mph also came on. During this the breaks became mushy and the truck was difficult to stop. I will be taking the truck back to the Chevy dealership in hopes they can fix the issue before myself or another person gets hurt in a crash caused by these issues.

2/19/2020, after already having other complaints on here. I was leaving the gym, and as I was pulling out of the parking space I needed to press the brakes, and had to stand on them to get it to stop. Steering was locked up and finally got it stop. I put it in park took pictures of the dash. Turned it off and started it back up, and check engine light was on.

Upon starting my truck the brake system failure 62 mph top speed warning appeared, service ESC and service trailer brakes. My check engine light illuminated. I turned off my truck waited a couple minutes restarted the warnings did not appear but my check engine light is still illuminated. I drove approximately 5 miles did not exceed 40mph I drove with extreme caution and arrived home safely. It was brought to my attention that there is a current recall that is the result from a software update that was done by the dealership when my truck was being serviced in Dec 2019 for a recall. The new recall could result in a crash.

I have lost power to my brakes on 4 isolated occasions in the span of a month after purchasing this new vehicle. On each occurrence the service trailer brakes, service ESC, service speeds and I would smell burning upon exiting the vehicle after operation. On 3 of the occasions I experienced this issue while stationary and upon starting the vehicle. On one occasion I was operating the vehicle at roughly 60 mph and engaged the brakes and lost power to the braking systems.

On January 22, 2020 I started the vehicle with using the mychevrolet phone app. I got into the truck and pushed the ignition button. The following three warnings appeared on the instrument panel: 1) brake system failure 62 mph top speed, 2)service trailer brake system, 3) service ESC ABS, brake, traction control, and check engine lights illuminated. I turned the vehicle off and turned it back on again using the ignition button and all warnings and lights cleared except the check engine remained illuminated. The vehicle was parked when all of this happened. I received an email from onstar reporting that an issue with the antilock braking system was detected. This vehicle had just been into the dealer the prior week to fix one recall associated with the battery cable, and two other recalls associated with the brakes.

Turned on truck and got multiple messages, "service ESC" and "brake system failure - speed limited to 62 mph." Braking was extremely limited - even at hardest effort, truck struggled to come to a complete stop. Truck has 6700 miles and also brake pads are reporting 14%/18% life left which is innacurate based on amount of driving.

Silverado 1500

  • 667 miles
Started my vehicle and the following messages came up immediately: Brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service ESC, and service trailer brake system. Other lights were illuminated on the dash, such as check engine, ESC, ABS and parking brake. Without turning off the vehicle, I thought it was important to get the vehicle to the dealer immediately as for them to see the vehicle in it's current state. While driving to the dealer the brakes where not fully functional. I would press the brake fully down and it would coast to a stop. Depending on the speed would determine how far it would coast before it would stop. It was a very scary situation. Brake pedal had pressure but the brakes would not start to active until fully pressed. Even then the stop was very slow and would coast. Example, driving out of my office drive to the man road at 5-10mph it coasted a good 30-60 ft. Once the pedal was fully engaged. Vehicle has 667 miles.

Silverado 1500

  • 1,500 miles
Purchased new vehicle with less than 4,000 miles was running fine when parked. When it was cranked to go home listed ESC failure, service steering column lock, trailering system failure, lane departure disabled, speed limited to 60 mph. I was able to get home, but the brakes were so hard that it was extremely difficult to stop. Local dealer it was purchased through "fixed it" less than 1,500 miles later I'm having the same issue! obd has the codes C0021, C0021, P25A2, P25A2, P0606. I do not feel safe driving this truck! if that issue were to happen approaching an intersection I would have no way of stopping in time. Ridiculous.

Silverado 1500

  • 3,000 miles
5 times since I purchased this truck one month ago; shortly after turning on, shifting into gear and starting to move the following displays on the dash 'service ESC, service parking break, flashing orange check engine light', there may have been other lights too but those ones have been there every time. Usually it resets after stopping and turning the car off and on. The ride however is very jerky until I am able to do so and this is not a safe operation condition if there is not a quick and easy place to stop to reset. I have tried to have onstar pull the codes rice but they were not been able to do so in time and they tell me there is no problem when they connect to the onboard diagnostics. It appears they can't see history, only active codes. There was a brake recall on this truck that was supposedly reprogrammed before I took delivery but I suspect that the 'software fix' may not have been successful. In hindsight, my salesman also seemed like he may have been aware of this issue but didn't tell me about it. I say this because the day after I picked it up I noticed that front brake pad life indicated only 68% remaining which seemed low for a 'new' truck that had 2500 miles (had been dealer courtesy vehicle). His response when he tried to clarify was something along the lines of 'and you want me to have them look at the warning about the brakes?', in retrospect that response indicates to me that he may have had an awareness of this problem that I had not yet experienced and was not what I was asking about at the time. He never seemed to understand what I was getting at about the brake pad life when I reexplained so I eventually decide just to forget about it and resigned to the fact that I may have to put new brake pads on this truck before the lease is up in 39 months.

Silverado 1500

  • 4,000 miles
Vehicle brakes were mushy and the check engine symbol displayed on the dash as was the symbol for steering ( wavy lines under a car picture), also these three codes were scrolling on the dash: Brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service trailer brake system, service ESC. These issues repeated on three separate occasions. Each time I took it to a Chevrolet authorized dealership repair shop where I was told the issue was resolved. Two different shops were used for three " repairs". the issues came up after I started the vehicle by putting my foot on the brake and pressing the start button. The codes began scrolling each time, and the brakes were not firm/ not normal.
