Tailgate latching mechanism sometimes fails. Tailgate will fall open when driving. My dog almost fell out going down the road because the tailgate fell open. I also lost a partial load of wood out the back when the tailgate fell open.

Tailgate cables rusted through. Tailgate was put in upright position and the tailgate came off of the truck being dragged by a decent cable. Caused damage to the side of the tailgate as well as the hinges that once held it.
