Silverado 2500 LS V8 6.0L Gas

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

When the automatic light sensor called for headlights, whether or not automatic lights were on, the use of the Right turn signal would automatically cause the bright lights to engage. This did not happen in the bright light of a normal day but only when the dash sensor was indicating a lack of light. Even in manual mode, if it was dark out, applying the Right blinker would cause the bright lights to engage.

It eventually got worse and started happening when the Left turn switch returned to normal (the bright lights would come on).

The it got so bad they would turn on while simply operating the vehicle...but always and only when the indicator said it was dark out. I tested with a light and as long as the light was on the sensor, the blinkers and bright lights worked as designed. As soon as it thought it was dark, blam, bright lights for every left turn.

I found I could manipulate it by pulling the turn signal arm back a little and that would stop the brights from coming on but it was a fine line.

Ended up buying a replacement blinker assembly that goes in the steering column under the steering wheel and replacing it myself. What a bunch of work! But I finally have working blinkers and no more automatic bright lights -- even in the dark!

As one other review has stated, the high beams come on when turning the turn indicator on to make a right hand turn, You are constantly flashing high beams at the people coming at you, and the people you are behind. I know I get upset when people flash their high beams at me, I would like to know if there is a simple fix? GMWA

Silverado 2500 LS 6.0L

  • Automatic transmission

When turning right only, during dusk or dark, and activating the right turn signal, the lights immediately go high beam. If I jiggle the lever, occasionally they return to daylight driving lights. Mostly, the high beams stay on, unless the signal is deactivated by turning the lever to neutral. Initially, the problem stopped when the turn signal was returned to neutral, then reactivated. Now it occurs every time, however never during daylight hours. The vehicle now has 383,000 miles and I was wondering if this is a sensor problem or a relay problem or an electrical problem?
