Ongoing brake problems with rotors and pads. The initial failure of all rotors and pads were replaced by dealer 11,505 miles. Rear pads have failed again at 17,589 miles. This vehicle was in for a state safety inspection and failed so again I will be in contact with dealership.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving at 45 mph he felt a pulsating sensation and all of a sudden he began to apply pressure to the brake pedal. The vehicle stopped but felt as if it did not come to a complete stop. He then pulled over and could not locate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer. The technician states there was normal wear and tear on the vehicle. The dealer stated they will not repair the failure due to no warranty on the vehicle. The contact states the vehicle had 23,000 miles and the brake in the rear rotted out including the rotors. The brake pads slid out from the rotors. A technician that located the failure stated that the brakes should have not gone out at 23,000 miles. The contact paid to have the vehicle repair. - the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado with an odometer reading of 27000 miles. The contact was driving at 25 mph in traffic under dry conditions when he had to come to a sudden stop. The contact's was unable to stop from about two car lengths away from hitting the vehicle in front of it. The contact's vehicle hit the other vehicle which caused $4400 worth of damage. The contact stated that the brakes were not an adequate size for this vehicle which caused it to crash, and complained to the dealer and manufacturer several times about the problem. Noted grinding noise from the passenger side of the vehicle when the brakes were applied on a Friday evening. Notified the dealership asap on Monday. Vehicle was serviced on that Tuesday. They found that the rear brakes were grinding and the pads had dug into a rear rotor. They installed new rear rotors and pads as well as the left rear emergency brake shoe. There was no warning to this failure. I believe this to be another case of excessive rear brake wear and premature failure. Customer cost was $557.62 with vehicle still under warranty. Purchased the vehicle, 2 months later a noise emanated from the engine compartment. I found the power steering pump to be void of fluid. I added the proper fluid. Immediately a leak occurred from the brake hydraulic boost. I researched your data and your information indicated that a safety recall exists for the brake boost (#04V043000 and #04V045000). The dealer refuses to fix this issue unless I pay the $1000 to fix it. They say that no recall exists for my vehicle. 1) while backing up a travel trailer into my driveway, the steering wheel became impossible to turn and in addition there was no power brake function in the truck. 2) without steering or braking power the truck was impossible to drive. Had this event occurred just minutes earlier when we were traveling a narrow and winding mountain road, a major crash with lives lost could have easily occurred. 3) we have an appointment to have the truck towed to a Chevy dealer on September 26. I understand that a recall involving this problem was to be initiated last February, but we have had no notification even though we are the original owners of the truck and live at the same address as when the truck was purchased new.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado accelerator got stuck on start up, caused rollover. One person injured. Total loss of the vehicle. Also was having problems with the brakes not stopping the vehicle. Example: When I tried to stop at a red light the vehicle kept on rolling, and I would yell stop, stop. I also had problems with the brake pedal dropping an inch while stopped at red lights. 2004 Chevy silevraldo that has 10,700 miles that is experiencing brake problems. The truck is currently at dealer for repair. The first instance occurred at about 1,000 miles. The issue is at low speeds such as being at an intersection or red light and when brake pressure is applied -it goes all the way to floor. There is an increased stopping distance at low speeds. No sounds or noises when this occurs. This happens under any circumstances such as wet or dry conditions. Occasionaly when turning to the left and applying brake pressure there is a grinding noise but suspects this may be due to the tire. Currently truck is in shop for the second time awaiting inspection of the brakes. The first incident was noted as normal by dealer even though consumer thought this was a safety issue. No repairs were made the first time.
