The key did not come out of the ignition. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the ignition switch was replaced. The consumer noticed a burning smell. The dealer stated that the reservoir for the 4-wheel drive was burning oil. The ignition problem was a common problem with GM vehicles. The drive train developed a noise, metal was found in the rear end, the steering shaft mechanism broken and allowed the key to go back into the lock position, the fuel gauge was intermittent, and the A/C was inoperative.
