Upon startup (cold or warmed) there are high RPM's, the idle is high, engine races and does not idle down. When shifting into drive and giving gas there is low acceleration and the truck won't go over about 15 miles per hour. After driving about 2-3 blocks the truck shifts and then runs normal. Intermittent problem, dealer states if there is no problem we can't diagnose or fix it. Black box recorder is needed to install until problem is reproduced and can be recorded.

I've had to replace the brake lights on my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer twice now. Having almost been rear-ended numerous times and if it wasn't for other drivers telling me my brake lights were out, I'm sure there would have been an accident by now. Also at 41,000 miles now the "service engine soon" light has come on as well.

Consumer stated that while driving, they lost steering control causing an accident. Dealer notified. Consumer was cut off by a truck losing control. Regained control then brakes felt like a lack of pressure. Steering loosened then locked up causing the consumer to spin out of control. GM stated there were no recalls. Consumer and the insurance company feels there is. Insurance co. Stated it could've been the vacuum to the engine shutting down or the lower control panel snapping which causes these symptoms.

Since shortly after purchase, (Feb. '02) to present (July '03) my 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer ltz 2wd has frequent-to-constant "pinging" in engine while accelerating; flat surfaces and inclines. Higher octane gasoline does not remedy. Representative at dealer's service dept. States this is "normal" with trai*Blazer. I am concerned that it is causing damage to the heads.

I received a notice from Chevrolet stating that some 2002 trail Blazer may experience a crackling of an engine cylinder bore liner. This will cause engine noise, poor performance, and or stalls with no engine restart. However, they will only repair after the vehicle is damaged. I have 2 children and do not think it is safe to be driving a vehicle that could stall at any time or provide "poor performance". I have experienced many problems with the 2002 Trailblazer - ranging from the vehicle stopping as I'm going 55 mph, the service engine light staying on, I've received 2 recall notices and then this special policy notice. I think the engine should be replaced for the safety of the driver and other drivers on the road.

I received a letter stating that my "2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer may experience a cracking of an engine cylinder bore liner. This will cause engine noise, poor performance and/or stalls with no engine re-start. This is not a recall. Do not take your vehicle has the condition as described above". I feel that this is irresponsible by Chevrolet and the action they are taking is also irresponsible. They are covering the vehicle for 7 years or 100,000 miles. Please look into this and make Chevrolet correct the problem. If they know they are putting a faulty product on the market they should be responsible enough to correct the problem. Nestor valle.

Trailblazer 6-cyl

The vehicle stalled intermittently while driving. The dealer was unable to determine cause of problem. The vehicle periodically shut off while in the idle position. The vehicle was delivered to the service department on several occasions to have the problem identified and corrected. As of 07/07/2003, the vehicle continued to have problems with loss of power and the service dept. Has yet to determine the problem.. the air condition developed a foul odor which was present after the vehicle sat in the sun, the odor was detected immediately after the vehicle was started and the ac was turned on, the vehicle was serviced times and then the problem returned, the air condition now takes a long period of time to cool the vehicle and produce cold air.

I have had numerous of problems with my 2002 Trailblazer. I have had to replace my rear tail light housing 3 times in the last year. I have also had to replace the clutch fan 3 times within 3 months. My hood keeps squeaking and has to be readjusted every other month. My instrument panel has gone out twice. The alarm also works when it wants to and the passenger side seat belt always locks up. On 6/13/03 it left finally left me stranded on the side of the road on the way to California. I live in Arizona and was traveling with my wife, mother-in-law and our 3 year old daughter. I had to pay for a rental car and had to submit to GM to reimburse me for the rental car. By reading all the complaints on these 2002 Trailblazers I think we should all get together and do a class act law suit towards GM. E-mail me with your thoughts. Jorgutierr5@aol.com.

On some cold starts the auto transmission starts off in second or third gear, it stays that way until the vehicle warms up. This is preceded by the engine idleing faster than usual on the cold start.
