The problems started in 2006 and were very intermittent. There is an electrical issue with the instrument panel, lights, battery, and other unknown items. The dealer check the electrical system when it started, but could not find any problem. Sometimes, while driving at night the lights went off, and I would have to pull off the road, check any fuses and relays, and then they would come back on. The next electrical issue was with the speedometer, which on a trip across to Florida it would be erratic and indicate I was traveling over 120 miles an hour when my gps said I was driving at 65. After the warranty expired I have had issues with replacing multiple batteries which go dead every 4 or 5 days depending on usage. After the speedometer stopped working, each other instrument panel item worked on and off. This includes the gas tank gauge, the ammeter, the temperature gauge, tachometer, and the oil pressure gauge. They all worked on and off for the next 3 years, and now none of these very important instrument panel gauges have worked for over 2 years. I wonder if the electronics that effect the air bags would work if I ever have an accident. I have replaced many batteries, I still have to charge each one every 4 or 5 days or I cannot start the truck. I have checked online and there are thousands of Trailblazer, and their related GM vehicles with the same problems. I hear that a recall was issued for the GMC-Envoy which is the same related parts vehicle but there is not one for the Trailblazer? I am dealing with these issues and hoping for the recall that we all have been waiting for. Thank god I have a 97 Toyota Camry that runs well. I wish [xxx] would read this. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but was not repaired. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 13V248000 (electrical system, visibility). The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 192,000. Updated 12/09/14

I can start my vehicle and the gauges started sticking. I am constantly being shocked by the driver door. My gauges no longer work at all and have completely went haywire. I have no dash lights. My vehicle has just died in the middle of a busy street. I do not know how much fuel I have, how fast I am going. My cruise control either at times increases my speed or does not hold the speed. I have to use a gps device to know approximate speed. This vehicle needs to be recalled. I love my vehicle but it has tons of issues.

I bought my vehicle at a dealership in 2010. I do not remember the exact date but it started having problems shortly after. The first thing that happened was all my gauges stopped working except my speedometer. In 2012 I was driving and at two different occasions within a day apart, while I was turning into a parking lot or gas station, my vehicle would shut off. I took it to auto zone to have one of those free tests done and nothing was showing up as abnormal. Around 2013 my vehicle started making a real high pitch squealing sound during start up and while driving. I took my car into since it needed a new water pump and they said that the high pitch sound could be fixed but wasn't a safety concern. In 2014 just a few months ago, again I was pulling into a gas station and my vehicle turned off. I was able to turn it back on and have enough time to pull into a spot before it shut off again. This time it wouldn't start my keys were stuck in the ignition and it could not be jump started. After taping the battery the keys came out of the ignition. It starts now but none of the electrical inside the vehicle works. At this point it's not drivable because of the temperature outside and the fact that I can't roll down my windows and the air blows only hot. The stereo doesn't work, the seats to move forward and back do not work. The back brake lights work but the tail lights while driving do not work. The front headlights work.

Truck cut off while in park. Smelt burning smell, and noticed smoke coming from under the hood. Someone raised the hood and noticed the computer electrical box was burning. The cover was melted through from the burning. The vehicle was off and then started back up on it's own. Security lights in dash came on. Vehicle could not be driven. I read on google website that some vehicles had recalls for electrical problems. A Chevrolet place in lynchburg va told the service department where I purchased the vehicle that there were no recalls. That is not what I read on the internet. Me and my daughter and 3 others could have died if this vehicle had of exploded. I would really appreciate some help in this matter. Thanks

I was driving along on the highway and doing the speed limit. I hit traffic and checked my check my gas gauge and noticed that my speedometer was reading 120 at full stop. I turned off and then back on the truck and the speedometer still pinned at 120. This is a major safety issue and they need to address it. I called Chevy and they said that there is nothing they can do, but charge me 900 for a new dash cluster.

Many times while driving this SUV, the engine has just shut off. It will start right back up. However it is scary and we have tried to figure this out for quite some time now. The worst time was when I was getting on a busy interstate and the car cut off. I don't know if the vehicle was doing this prior to our purchase. I can not get any information from carmax in regard to this. It is well maintained and due to this, I rarely take it out on the road anymore.

Beginning with the tachometer in 2011, the remaining gauges on the instrument panel cluster have proceeded to stop working over the next two plus years to the point that none of them work anymore (including the speedometer). We have no idea how fast we are driving nor do we know the status of our fuel level.

I purchased my 2004 Trailblazer of the original owner with 35000 miles on the speedometer. At 75000 miles the door locks started clicking as if locking and unlocking. I took it to a Chevy dealer and the mechanic said it was definitely strange and I would need to make an appointment to have them look at it. Just him saying definitely strange to my ears said expensive. My sister had the same vehicle different color and hers had the same problem. Now how strange is that? I broke the appointment and got used to the clicking. Sometimes it would stop for a week or so and click some more. The clicking was loud as if you could imagine the sound when you lock all the doors with one click. Click click click click every half minute or so. Then the tachometer went nuts. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. same with the gas gage, oil pressure, temp gage and battery. Once the wipers wouldn't come on while being caught in a rain storm. The started working again about 15 miles later. Now the electric door locks are acting up setting off the alarm. I no longer lock the doors due to the alarm going off for no reason. Deactivating the alarm can be a chore as pushing the correct button to shut it up only works after pushing it a few times. We have checked for pinched wires and checked the fuses to no avail. Without these electrical problems I would be one happy customer!

I bought this car about 4 years ago and it has been nothing but an elecitrical mess. First my head lights would go out once a month, then a couple times a month, then once a week. My brake lights started doing the same. Our famliy mechhanic couldn't figure it out, he just kept replacing them and sending the bad bulbs in for warranty. A couple times the pigtails and lamps had to be replaces. Also 3 seperate occasions both headlights went out at once while driving. And I had to drive home in the dark with no head lights on. I took it the Chevy dealership after the third time abd apparently my fuse box was melted and needed to be replaced. Spent over $1000 doing that and it worked okay for about a year. Then headlights started going out again and brake tlights as well. Not once a week, but still about once a month or every other month. Recently my drivers window stopped working and I couldn't control the master switch to lock my car or roll up my windows. The cluster panel in the door needed to be replaced. Also, had two sensors that needed to be replaced because my 4 wheel drive, parking brake, and crusie control would stop working all at once and the lights would be lit up on the dashboard. I wasnt' able to use any of them until the sensor was replaced. Also the power shorted out in my side mirros, so I can't adjust the mirrors with the control or they start tiliting back and forth like crazy on their own. I have to get out of the car and adjust them manually. GM needs to do a recall, this car is not safe and I will not be buying a GM car while I look for a new car soon.

This was actually the second or third incident where the key got stuck in the ignition, Blazer was in park the lights remained on so did the radio anything that is typically on during aux, but this was the beginning of a long problem that lead to me trading off..the key gets stuck you can not remove it caused the battery to go bad, it would begin to happen often the service engine soon light would come on, the transmission would not shift above 3rd gear, also shortly after the purchase in Sept of 2011 the speedometer stopped working. The Blazer died 3 times gauges on dash would periodicly stop working. My service 4 wheel would come on randomly the key issue was the biggest problem but it was only a matter of time before other things went wrong. When the key would get stuck in the igintion as stated the transmission would not shift properly in the beginning the transmission would act out once you took it out of park it was noticeable but as the problem became worse it started happening driving down the highway I noticed once that I have successfully made it through 1-2-3 but never got out of 3. I should state that when the key was stuck I would have to manually shift through the first and second then put it into drive otherwise the car had no power because it would be stuck in the higher gear.tried to contact the dealership as there was a recall on the dash for the 2003 model and they told us it wasnt a safety problem I do not understand how random loss of power and random car dying is not a safety issue, I have been watching the list of GM recalls and I have not seen much about the Trailblazers, and it bothers me that I am sure there are other issues like the ones that I had. On another note transmission related my neighbors just had to get rid of their Trailblazer 2006 for transmission problems.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the ignition switch could be turned without the key being in the ignition, causing the battery to drain. The key was removed and the ignition switch remained in the accessory mode which caused that battery failure. The contact had to constantly to check to ensure that the ignition was in the off position after removing the key. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. My complaint is that I contacted Chevy dealer and advised of so many issues I have had with my vehicle since the purchase mainly most recent is the driver signal light will not come on and it was recalled 2004 recall# turn signal 05V198000 in which they advised me that the campaign has expired and therefore mine cannot be replaced. I have already almost had 3 car crashes because the signal is not working. I do not understand why Chevrolet did not replace when it is clear this is life threatening regardless of when the recall was put into force.
