Traverse

  • 88,000 miles
Driving and car is very slow to accelerate. Stabillink warning and ABS lightly are on. Take it to the dealer and they tell me it's the accelerator pedal sensor, so I have it replaced, along with a cleaning of my throttle body. Car is continuing to slowly accelorate, making it dangerous to drive and I am a single mom with 4 kids ages 11 and under, it's so frustrating. This seems to be an ongoing issue with these cars and GM is doing nothing to recall them, someone is going to get killed driving on the expressway is the most dangerous, as the vehicle takes so much time to accelerate up to a normal speed.

On a busy interstate, vehicle lost power and service stabili trak indicator came on. Third time this has hapoened. Was able to creep to shoulder at 20 mph. Shut engine off and power and acceleration came back up with check engine light on. Is this a known safety issue with an active recall? vehicle has 89,500 miles and is out of warranty

Six times now, I have been driving and the stabilitrack alert goes off and then it cuts down my engine power and I couldn't go over 20-25 mph. Two of these times I was on a major highway with my three children. All other incidents happened while driving down city streets. I pulled over, turned off the vehicle for a few minutes, restarted it and the engine light comes and stays on. My husband looked it up online after the first incident and saw that it could be the throttle body sensor and replaced it. Obviously that didn't help because it happened again so we took it to get diagnosed when the engine light was still on and it said that the ignition switch needed replacing. My husband replaced that about 3 weeks ago. Two days ago, I started my car and it sputtered and died. I turned it back on after a couple of minutes and my check engine light was on so we took it back in to get diagnosed. Threw the same code saying the ignition switch needed replacing. All of this has happened within the past 10 months. I can not afford to keep throwing on random parts that aren't fixing the issue nor should I have to. This is obviously a well known issue with this make and model and needs to be resolved before someone seriously gets hurt. I cannot even drive the 20 minutes to my job without worrying whether or not I'm going to get there safely and without having to pull off the highway because my vehicle loses power. I was very excited to purchase a Traverse as I had wanted one for quite some time but now I'm very frustrated and angry about it. I'm even more frustrated with GM and their lack of response to the severity of this problem.

I was entering the on-ramp going East and my vehicle completely stopped. I was going around 25-30 mph and I had my kids in the car. My computer forced my brakes and I was unable to drive the vehicle. My SUV literally made a full stop while driving at 25-30 mph with my kids in the car and no brake lights ignited. The check engine light and the traction control light came on. They eventually turned off. This happened one other time. I was driving on a residental street and the vehicle stopped again. My husband whom was driving the car said the car just stopped in the middle of the intersection. He tried pressing the traction control button because the check engine light and the traction control light came on and the brakes were forced again and nothing. Imagine going 25mph and stopping abruptly without brake lights for other cars to see. This time I did research and I saw that other 2014 Chevy Traverses were recalled for the chassis module (recall number 14V614000). I saw youtube videos and I checked several consumer the complaint websites and I literally saw over 10 other complaints about the same issue this month! I also put a reader in my vehicle and the two codes that come up is P16aa & P1682. One is for the electronic module system in which the chassis (pertaining to the recall) is listed under). I called the dealer and they said that the recall was active for 2014 Chevy Traverses..... but not mine! I am completely disgusted. These vehicles will kill you - literally and they know it, and they refuse to do anything about it! now I'm paying a car note and I can't even drive it - for the safety of my family, others, and myself. Shame on them - again this is happening to other people! this is a urgent request for help!

While exiting the freeway 6/1/2019, on the off ramp luckily, my 2014 Chevy Traverse's lights start coming on: Service stabilitrak, traction control off, service traction control, power engine reduced and the car slows down and starts jerking. I get stopped at the end of the ramp and can't get the vehicle to start moving again. Turned on my hazards and shut off the vehicle and turned it on and off several times. Finally, all the lights go off and my vehicle started moving normally again but the check engine light was on and stayed on. After several hours the check engine light went off. Taking into my mechanic to see what the problem could be but it looks like this is common on the 2014 and may not have a solution. This is really frustrating especially after only having this vehicle for 8 1/2 months! should have some kind of recall out there.

I was driving on the highway when the car started losing power! as I hit the gas petal it would putt putt as if it wasn't getting any gas. I lost complete power at red light, had to turn the switch all the way down then back up then the car slowly winded up as if it didn't want to start so I had to give it a little gas then it cranked up on the dash board you can see the RPM going up and down as if it wanting to shut off!

Out of the blue, while driving my 2014 Chevy Traverse, it started acting sluggish, "traction control light came on, "service stabilitrack error came up on dash, cruise control wouldn't work. I was on a freeway and scared to death. It wouldn't speed up and kept jerking to not go faster. Onstar registered that it was a problem with traction control. If many are having this issue with this SUV, why hasn't there been a recall? this was very dangerous. I didn't know if it would make it home.

Fuse box-! with no warning, a system was triggered to drop engine power dramatically plunging from 65 to below 20. This happened to me 2 times on a major highway surrounded by trucks endangering my family as I could not climb above 20mph and had to scramble to get over and not be a hazard. While the dealer initially couldn't find the problem- Chevy mechanics told them to check for a specific tripped fuse- that ruins the whole box. The problem is so prevalent- the part is indefinitely on back order. This is a potentially deadly situation.

I recently had my 2014 Chevy Traverse in to my mechanic for maintenance, as I do when needed. After maintenance was performed, I picked my vehicle up and it drove just fine for five maybe ten miles, no issues. I was on the highway and suddenly the "service stabilitrak", "traction control off", and "service traction control" messages began flashing. Immediately after, my vehicle began jerking profusely as I was driving - it slowed the speed, and eventually quit. The messages were still there. A few more miles down the road, it began jerking again. I don't know what is going on with it but I took it back to my mechanic and he's had it since then (this was days ago) and he's having a hard time pinpointing the issue. However, I see many other Traverse owners whom are experiencing the same dangerous issue, with no resolve. My vehicle has up to this point been reliable and I thought safe, however, this issue is not safe. I have a job that I need to get back and forth from and two small children that I need to Transport safely. This issue with my Traverse is beyond dangerous. My Traverse has 85,000 miles on it. Really disappointed.

This past Friday, I was traveling in the highway at 60mph then the car starts beeping, with immediate loss of power within seconds, down to 20mph. Error messages start flashing, the car starts shaking. Almost got hit by the person behind me as I wasn't braking, so they, nor myself, had no indication my car was about come down to a crawl. I pulled over, turned off the car, gave it a minute, restarted, and the car was back to normal and I was able to get home. The engine light remained, but it went away before I could get it to the dealer (within 3 miles), dealer is around 8 miles away. This is the 4th incident with this similar issue. Once we were waiting on a turning lane, the car started beeping, shaking, displaying errors on the dashboard, loss of power again to a crawl. We pulled over to the first parking lot in the intersection. Turned of the car, restarted and it was fine again. Then again right after putting gas. Got into the car to leave the gas station, car was beeping, shaking, displaying error messages on the dash. Turned it off, restarted and it was fine. Another time, I was approaching a light to make a right turn, the engine stalled right before I was to turn. I had to put it on part to restart the car, once it started, it ran fine. I'm afraid to drive the car in the highway. I have a 45 minute commute to work everyday. I always have to keep to the right lane in case the car acts up. The error messages that display are "service stability tract, engine power reduced, tracking control turned off" and maybe one other one. I've seen the message boards and it's happening to many owners and for several years! it is dangerous to drive like this. This should have been addressed years ago.

2014 Chevy Traverse engine, traction control, stabilitrak: Vehicle dash says "reduced engine power" and shuts the engine off while I'm still driving and in traffic. This occurred while I was crossing a busy side street, on 2 state roads, and other places. After turning off the engine for 30 seconds or so, I can restart it the vehicle and continue until it occurs again. I've taken it to the dealership twice. The PCM was replaced the first time after 3 days of keeping the vehicle. The second time, it was kept over a week and the PCM was replaced again. The same issue occured within 24 hours and has repeated several times.

The car has started to do a shimmy and then the car completely turns off and won't start again. There is always gas in the car, and the oil is changed regularly. The car has been taken to a local repair shop to address the issue. I was told that there is a small electrical connection box under the gas tank that was filled with dirt and getting poor contact. The small box was cleaned out and electric conductive gel was used. The car didn't have a problem for about 9 days and then it started to do the same thing as before. It has turned off mostly when the vehicle is moving. The latest time this happened was 11/6/2018
