I was driving to the airport to pick up my family. I was going at a steady speed and the engine just died. My tachometer drop to zero. Luckily I coasted to the shoulder. Called AAA but they took so long to get there that after about 20 minutes I tried to start it and it started just fine. Took it to the dealer the next day. He said it was a bad battery. So he replaced the battery approximately $350 later. It was fine for a while then coming home driving up hill on the Skyway Bridge it died again. This time I was not lucky enough to get over to the shoulder. Police came and pushed me to safety.

I had AAA tow the car to the dealer again. He couldn't find anything. No codes were coming up on the diagnostics. $80 for nothing. This happened 4 more times randomly driving to work, or wherever. Not stopped at red light, literally going along just fine and boom. It just dies. One time I was making a left hand turn. Luckily not a lot of traffic. My friends won't ever get in the car with me anymore. I have spent over $1000 with no solution. A friend found this website for me. I don't know what to do. I can't afford a new car. Chrysler should be responsible for this.

Vehicle stalled about every 300 miles. I did not give up was not willing to replace parts at a whim. Contacted Chrysler Corp. They finally put a "flight recorder" on my car. Finally it happened and it was recorded.

Solution - open circuit verified concern. Load tested 5volt supply. All wires tested good under load. Found frank shaft position sensor open circuit internal. Replaced crankshaft position sensor.

Since repair my car hasn't stalled, my gas indicator light comes on, my sun roof works, my radio doesn't reset. Fingers crossed I think its fixed. It's been about 10,000 miles. Haven't stalled.

I've had problems with my Chrysler 200. It has stalled on my wife numerous of times - at one point I had to replace the crank sensor, and also the battery and the alternator twice. I'm finally getting around to calling the dealer to have this checked out - these small repairs have been costly to me. Hopefully they can figure out my problem - but what can I do if this does not solve my problem?

200 LX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 135,000 miles

The car stalls when it slows down or comes to a stop at a traffic light. It re-starts with no problem (so far) - but this is a potentially dangerous problem if it stalls on the highway in a heavy traffic.

So far my mechanic replaced the throttle body, re-programmed the computer and replaced a connector. None of these have solved the problem.

I have had 10,000 plus out of pocket engine has been totally replaced piece by piece... there's a new heater core. I'm now going on my third computer, and got a major oil leak. The oil cooler was another $3000. I replaced the alternator on this go round.

So, this is the third time in the last four months it's happened.

1. First time with my grand-kids on a 100 degree day heading to the beach. Just left my Son's home and was rounding a turn when the car just shut down. Was able to pull off the busy road and had my Son come check it out. I tried to start again but turned over very very quickly, sounding like an electrical issue. He tried to disconnect the battery and reattach it. It started fine... He thougtht I needed to change the battery in my key fob, so I did, no problems for a few months...

2. Second time, I'm driving down another Major Highway in the fast lane at 65 mph when my car just shuts down, no power steering, no power brakes,, NOTHING JUST DEAD. LIFE THREATENING.....Rolled to a stop on the shoulder, thank God! While waiting for a tow truck after about 30 minutes tried to turn it over, many attempts failed with lights blinking and a very quick spinning of the motor. Something finally clicked in the car and it started correctly. Once home I called Chrysler this time to see if there were any recalls,,, NOPE, the Chrysler rep said just an air bag recall, nothing for shutting down... YEAH RIGHT!!!

3. THIRD TIME'S A CHARM! Just last Friday, driving along on a very busy road doing 55mph when the car just shuts down,,, same thing when attempting to restart it, the motor would spin very quickly and the lights blinking. I finally google 2011 Chrysler 200 shutting down and see all these complaints!!! Something needs to be done before someone is killed. It could have been me! SOMEONE HELP!!! I had my car towed to Chrysler this time,,, costing me 350 bucks..... for a new battery!!! It's BS!! My battery was dead from leaving on the flashers!!! Service guy says no error codes are coming up. THIS IS A BUNCH OF CRAP!!

My Chrysler 200 limit conv 3.6L is still a great car with 223,000+ miles. Well maintained because I am a Chrysler dealer parts department manager. Engine just shuts off while driving, no codes or warning. After an hour or two it starts and runs just fine. Low fuel pressure reading so replaced fuel pump. Still same problem. After the third time, found a p06 code but sill no check engine light. Replaced PCM. Still same problem after a two week run. Next replaced throttle body. Good for two days and then back to the same problem. Grounds are all ok and tipm seems to be ok, but this is an on going problem that is unsafe.

Never buy Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. Sales agent will promise everything, after that you are on your own. I bought my Chrysler 200 at the dealership year 2011 and has always been a problem. And if service department cannot figure it out, they will come out with something ....which most of the times ....." Throttle needs to be replace". How often cars need to change throttle and how long it will last. I changed and paid a huge amount for the throttle but the problem of completely shutting it off while driving was not resolve, it continue to happen and there where times that I really blamed myself buying my Chrysler 200 Then after you replaced with a new throttle with a bad customer service at the Gurnee dealership , after couple of months it keeps happening again. Since my Chrysler 200 wasn't fixed, I tried the other Chrysler dealership and it told me again that throttle needs to be replaced. I found out that Throttle requires cleaning first, instead of recommending to replace it with a new one. Do the problem resolve/ fix!!!!! Nope Never Again!!!!!.

The engine died when decelerating twice in a row on same day within few minutes and there were no warning indicators or signs that it would happen. I was driving to the mall the other day, stopped at a stop sign, pulled out and the engine stalled. I continued down the road and the car stalled while I was driving in traffic. I continued further down the road and the car stalled four more times. This problem has occurred intermittently since I purchased the car in Jan 2016. It has never occurred this many times in one trip; it was usually just once or twice in a day, but now it is out of control. I am afraid to drive the car!

200 V6

My 2011 Chrysler 200 V6 has now stalled while driving on three separate occasions. All three times I was going over 40 mph and the car just died with no warning. The car will not re-start right away, but after an hour or two the car will start normally with no indication of a problem. I have also noticed that the engine will randomly rev up and lurch while stooped at red lights, and will feel like it's about to stall but doesn't die totally, but will drive fine once I get moving again.

Only by pure luck have I not been slammed into by a vehicle behind me when I've stalled. My car has an extended warranty, and each time this happened I took it to the Chapman dealership in Horsham, Pa. However, each time I gave been told that they can't figure out the problem so they can't do anything for me. Basically they're telling me that it's my tough luck, and hopefully our faulty car that you have a warranty on doesn't get you or someone else killed.

My 2011 Chrysler 200 (POS) cut off on on me while driving & nearly caused me to wreck. How is there no recall on this?? I googled and saw so many complaints about this & it said a simple fix-software update. that I needed to call the dealership where I bought the car and see if this update had been done, which obviously it probably hasn't if this has happened to me 4 times since I've had my car. I swear, I will never in my life buy another Chrysler as long as I live, however, I have owned 3 dodge cars which I've loved & never gave me a problem with! I bought my car in September 2012, so I don't know if the dealership or Chrysler Corporation was aware of this problem at this time!

As I have stated previously, there should be a real call on this because this is very dangerous!! God for bid anything happen to me or my children while driving and this happens again I swear I will get an attorney and sue the hell out of dealership where I purchased the car and Chrysler if they do not fix this for free!!

Today while driving in reverse down a driveway, I stopped to make sure no one was coming so I could exit into the street. The car had completely stalled. There were no dashboard lights with any indicators as to what could have been wrong. This is not the first time, I tried to start it, but in my panic, I was still in reverse. No go, Put in Park, and it started right up and I was on my way. I had to drive an hour and a have in heavy rush hour traffic but was so nervous. I did make it. This is the 4th time since I bought the car this has happened to it since June of 2014. How come there are no recalls on this car?
