200 LX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,000 miles

I bought the car with low miles on it, for my daughter in College. She drove it for the past couple months with no problem, then all of a sudden it has been having uncontrollable engine stalling issues while driving down the road along with intermittent power loss issues. After taking it to our local garage, they can not duplicate the issue. In the one time it there was a code - it said some kind of resistor.

After resetting it and taking all the fuses, resistors taken out and changing them around. It drove for one hour then did it again in number two. In the traffic in a city, my daughter was nearly hurt very badly due to it being near an intersection. Totally mad and upset that there's no help from anyone.

I have a 2014 Chrysler 200, and I am afraid to drive my car. I was driving down the street and I could feel the car slowing down then it just shut down without any warning. Twice the mechanic could not find the problem. I was told there are no error codes. This has happened to me on several occasions, and once while making a left turn into oncoming traffic. I am 71 years old and I do not want to die in my car. I have paid over $500 dollars to fix the problem and it still exists. Can someone please tell me what to do, and how to fix this problem?

200 LX 3.6L V6

Just paid off car loan in August, of course. Mid-November, driving to work, dash lights started flashing, beeping noises going off, speedometer needle rapidly going from 0 to 50 back and forth. Crossed 2 lanes of traffic to get into left turn lane trying to get to a nearby gas station. Engine died in left turn lane, no lights, no power steering, no power brakes, car still in drive, but dead. Managed to coast car across 3 lanes of traffic, wrestled the steering wheel to turn down a short road and into a gas station parking lot and rolled until car stopped. Very scary; glad this event did not happen on a busy highway or extreme rural area. Had car towed to an independent mechanic, no problems detected. Said drove car and it was fine, mad me feel like I was crazy. Not convinced there were no problems. Did research, saw TIPM issues. Called Chrysler in Detroit, they logged the problem, but offered no help or solution. Took car to dealership, had car for a week, no problems detected. Dealership customer service was HORRIBLE. Retrieved car and brought it back to independent mechanic. Had a rebuilt TIPM put in--$960 hit. Driving car home, engine light went off! Called mechanic, bringing car back. Now suspect issue with fuel pump or fuel sensor. Really sad, first car I truly loved, but it may need to go down the road without me.

200 Limited 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,583 miles

$1200 lighter wallet today due to a Chrysler failing. With 46,000 km /28,000 miles (basically one year of driving) on a 2014 Chrysler 200. After battery replacements and several stalls and no starts, the dealer said the alternator had to be replaced. NO WARRANTY said the dealer on a piece of crap part. I have had many NON CHRYSLER vehicles with 200K on them and never had alternator problems. Hey Chrysler...after 5 vehicles from you in 15 years, each one getting increasingly worse.....I'M DONE and will be very vocal with fiends and business associates regarding your questionable quality and reliability..

200 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

I bought my 2014 Chrysler 200 in 2015 with 23,000 miles. Thought I hit the jackpot. I was driving on I-75 when all of a sudden the check engine light comes on and all the lights on the dashboard goes off, radio goes off, transmission starts to shut down, and car starts to shut down. It was a lucky thing I was driving in the right/slow lane to put to the side of the highway. I shut the car down and waited a few minutes before trying to restart the engine. I drove straight to the dealership that told me I should have brought it back within the first 3 months (when there was no issues) so they were not liable. It happened again the following week, but this time the car would not start. I truly felt my life was in danger so I call the finance company to pick it up where it stopped and advised them that the car was a death trap. The bank towed it and still put it on the auction block knowing the life threatening issues with the vehicle. #SMH

200 Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,000 miles

I was cruising down I-71 to work when all of a sudden the check engine light comes on and then a short while later the ABS light comes on, radio goes off, transmission starts slipping (it's electronic too), and when you step on gas it is like engine is trying to down shift into super low gear. I almost got hit 3 times before I could get to side of highway. I shut it down and waited a few minutes and limped it on back streets to my office. I immediately got on Internet to research upon my arrival at my office and low and behold this is a known issue although it seems no resolution? Someone will die if this isn't remedied ASAP believe me!

Update from Aug 8, 2015: Roadside assistance towed the vehicle to the dealer who then sent a driver to pick me up at my office and gave me a loaner. It turned out to be the alternator went bad so the battery died. The scary part is that since all cars are so electronic now, when the battery goes so do all of the core systems!
