Car has shut off while driving last few weeks. It happened. As soon as I turned onto a road, going 20-30 mph, it has happened while trying to merge onto the freeway. The car just stalls, says "place in P to start" and then dies. The gearshift and wheel lock up and you have to turn the car off and attempt to restart. Each time I had to try at least 3 times to get the car restarted. All lights come on dash, battery light included, but had battery checked and it is fine. Trying to restart, it doesn't want to turn over. This has happened with several cars behind me and have almost been rear ended because of it. Took it to the dealship but, all they told me to do was track my oil changes but, the problem still remains.

The transmission will change gear unexpectedly. Cause my car to jerk shake and unusual long delay to accelerate at times even rev high while prolonged delay before accelerating. This has caused multiple situations that made the safety of driving this vehicle unpredictable and a hazard for me and other motorist.

The vehicle stalls while in motion, it has stalled 5 times within 10 minutes and I no longer can safely drive it. All occasions were on a city street while braking. The car shows on the dashboard that it is shifting gears even while remaining at one speed and then the system shuts down. It occasionally shifts hard and/or makes an odd noise in the engine.

On 10/12/18 was driving down a busy highway just started going down a hill and my car lost power and my gear shifter starting blinking in neutral, brake pedal and gas pedal was stuck and push to start would not work for me to restart my car after a few tries I was able to get to turn off and took a couple tries to get it to turn back on. I was stalled and had cars dodging me and swerving in other lanes when they were topping the hill. I went to my dealership and they wasn't able to look at that day and told me they could probably get to it the next following week. While I was driving to the dealership to drop it off with the service department I was at a stop sign stopped with my foot on the brake and it decides to take off on it's on and I had to smash the brakes several times to make it stop in order to not hit another vehicle. It was a pretty traumatic experience for me as I have always took care of that car since I have had it. I never had a recall for my vehicle either. My engine would also skip a few times while driving to my dealership. I have also never had any work done to my vehicle mechanically beside oil changes on a regular basis.

Cruise control is getting stuck! I bought this car in June, 2018 and every time I set the cruise control on the car it gets stuck while I'm traveling on the highway. It'll work fine on flat roads and going uphill but when the car goes downhill and the speedometer increases past what I have the cruise control set on' the engine revs up, the rpms go up to 5 or 6 (sounds like it's going to explode!). I press the cruise control cancel button and it doesn't stop it, I even mash the brake pedal and it won't stop it! I have to continuously hold the brake pedal down for about 5 seconds while driving until the cruise control kicks off. I've noticed there is a recall on certain 2016 Chrysler 200S due to the cruise control problem but when I called Chrysler and gave them my VIN number they said my car isn't affected by the recall. But it is getting stuck like the other vehicles and I need help!! please tell me what to do.

Vehicle sounds as if it wants to shut off when standing idle sometimes and even sometimes as I'm slowing down. And recently took a road trip had trouble with cruise control as if it was accelerating on it's on or getting stuck. I checked my VIN number and found no particular recalls specific to the VIN. However, I received an email that the Chrysler 200 itself had recalls relating to electrical, steering and overall safety of the vehicle. The problems I've been having seem to be closely related to those specified in recall

Vehicle is stalling, completely shutting off, losing power while driving. It has done it as 20mph, 45mph, going straight, turning left, turning right. There is no notification that this is happening. The only thing I can tell it's happening is it looses power, steering locks up and the car dash says "shift to P to start vehicle". when I do that, the car takes at least 30-456 seconds to completely start back up and running. It acts like it does not want to start back up. I have travelled county roads, city streets, highways and it has done it on each one of them. This is not ok and something that needs to be blown off with no recall. I have 2 small children that is 99.9% of the time in the car with me. I can not have this continue to happen with nothing being done or resolved of this. I have taken it to 2 different Chrysler dealers and they cannot figure out what is going on with it because the car is not throwing any codes when it happens. No check engine light, nothing.

A few times pulling out into the traffic the car would fail to accelerate properly almost causing an accident. Also, some times while driving the car seems as if its dying or loosing power. It is also rattling when I crank it up. The other thing is that the transmission while accelerating seems to take a while to switch gears and then the car jerks really hard when it finally shift gears. I've taken it in to the dealership and they just said that they checked it and cant find anything wrong but that they have had similar complaints but that "its just the fact that the car is a 4 cylinder." It's very scary pulling out into traffic.

My car will die while driving or puts itself in neutral while on the hwy. We have almost been in 5 or more accidents becasue the car behind us has no idea my car has stopped while going 65 mph and car just dies. We have been in touch with the dealer they have tried fixing this car at least 5 times as of now we have has their rental for car for over 35 days my vehicle has 19,000 we bought it brand new. Also would like to go on record if anything happens to me or my children because of this defect I gave the dealership many chances to fix they have even called someone from out of town to fix and I'm still waiting I do not want to die or get injured due to this problem also the problem started at 306 miles and has not been fixed yet

On several occasions, while the vehicle has been in motion the vehicle has accelerated on its own and under different conditions with different drivers. The vehicle surges forward and the tachometer jumps over 6 RPM. On a separate occasion, while trying to merge onto a highway, the accelerator was pressed all the way to the floor but the vehicle did not respond almost resulting in an accident. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer 3 times with no clear idea from the technicians as to what is wrong with the vehicle. The first time it went to the dealership, it spent two weeks and their techs could not duplicate the problem. It was recommended that a "black box" recording device be installed in the vehicle. The device is cumbersome and a potential hazard to drivers who must try to push the button on the device while the vehicle is unintentionally accelerating. The vehicle duplicated the problem again when it was given back. On the third trip to the dealer, the black box info was relayed to Chrysler and the vehicle is still siting there after a week and Chrysler techs have issued a do not let the customer back in the vehicle order. Basically, Chrysler has seized my vehicle, to which I am still paying for, and they do not know what the issue is therefore cannot fix it. A complaint has been filed with Chrysler Corp.

Purchased car April 2016, incident on or about 12 July 2016. Following is hand delivered letter of 22 July 2016 to dealer's service manager and sales manager regarding the problem: "on a recent road trip, I learned that going downhill on an interstate highway with the cruise control set at 65, the vehicle's tachometer pegs out and the speed increases to more than 85 mph. Thankfully there were no vehicles in front of me or I would have probably collided with them, at at that speed would have probably been killed. Fortunately I had the reflects to hit the brake and disengage the cruise control. When the cruise control deactivated, the engine revved to a point I feared it would blow up. After several very long seconds the engine returned to normal. I pulled to the side of the road and remained in the car until I stopped shaking and my heart stopped racing." After one week having no response I again went to the dealership and no one knew what I was talking about. Finally I got the sales manager to read the letter. He said he had nothing to do with it, see the service manager, more or less the same. I then emailed Chrysler Corp via their website and provided the information. Response was Corp required their tech to witness the dealer's electronic diagnosis. Back to svc mgr who contacted the tech and arranged for test the following week. Car in Monday, ready Friday. Corp tech's determination was the 9 speed had no braking feature and the best advise was to use the brake. Back to Corp with: "it is so disappointing and reprehensible to learn that Chrysler is endangering buyers of their product by knowingly denying responsibility for a faulty and deadly design. At the outset my demand was either fix the problem as I do like the car, or a total refund of the purchase price. I received neither. My only recourse is a lawsuit, that would last longer than my money.do not buy!

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. While driving various speeds, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. While exiting the driveway with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle would accelerate without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the technician could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,870. Updated 12/20/16 updated 12/21/16.
