There have been repeated stress cracks in the windshield. I have on two occassion experienced the same crack. It starts under the seal on the drivers side about 4" off of the bottom, travells out about two inches, turns towards the top and travells to the sun visor area. It has not been caused by a strike to the window and each crack is almost identical in size and location. It looks like an "L" if viewed from the exterior. I suspect that the body lacks rigidity and is thus stressing the glass as it flexs. If the crack were to connect to the top portion of the window, the windshield could fail. The car is a 2000 Chrysler 300M.

My real concern is that I may have purchased a test car without knowledge of such. On the top of the windshield reads, "Chrysler proving grounds" visible only when the windshield is wet. Is this something that should be investigated further?

The safety problem is with the design of the car. With the windshield having such a high angle of slant, during mid-day sunny days, the upper dash reflects so badly in the windshield that safe operation of the vehicle is greatly impaired. Even though the dash is in a matte finish, there is still considerable reflection. In my opinion, enough reflection to raise serious safety concerns.
