problem #2

Aspen Limited 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,000 miles

I've had problems with steering and front end alignment. I replaced a ball joint upper and lower rocker arm had it running aligned about five times, now to get a new set of tires. It's still bad on the highway when I hit potholes or significant bumps on the road.

loss of steering control hitting bumps in road

We almost lost control and crashed in the last incident, but this has been a problem since we bought this vehicle last winter. After replacing the tires, the problem only grew worse. When hitting a bump, even the smallest bump, the steering wheels pulls out of the driver's hands and there is a momentary loss of control. This happens at speeds as low as 25mph and it has nearly caused several accidents within the past 9 months. I see a recall of the Aspen years 2007 and 2009 for this problem, but the 2008 was excluded. Why would they exclude this year if it has the same problem?
