Concorde

  • 100,000 miles
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Concorde. While driving 60 mph, the engine stopped running. The failure also occurs at any speed and, occasionally, the vehicle will not restart. There are no warning indicators prior to the failure. The contact was driving at a steady pace before shutting off. Oftentimes, the vehicle will start back up or it has to remain parked for 2-3 minutes before restarting. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic shop, but they could not determine the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Electrical system, engine, transmission problems. Our 2004 Chrysler Concorde lxi has developed many problems over the past 2 years, I will try to list them here. We have had many events of false readings from the brain of the car according to our mechanic. The check engine light comes on as does the oil and transmission light. There has been many times that the car has just cut off at different stages in driving. We have been in stop and go traffic, or going down a city street, or driving down the highway, or just come to a stop light, or just making a turn after slowing down. So as you can see the speeds that the car cuts off varies from 0 to 5 and from 5 to 40 and from 40 to 70 miles per hour. This car has sputtered, jerked, spewed black smoke, ran so rough that we thought it would shake apart. We have had to pull over to the side of the road so many times because the car cut off, that is if it would make it to the side of the road. Sometimes it takes from 5 minutes to 45 minutes before the car will re crank again. We have had the car serviced regularly as it should be by certified mechanics. They have put the diagnostics machine on it so many times and the readings are always false according to them, because if it were a true reading the car wouldn't be running at all. We have been so lucky that no one has been injured or killed so far because of these problems. Because we have had so many close collisions because of these problems, I am afraid for my wife who has to drive this car to work. I can only pray that something can be done about these problems before someone is injured or god forbid even killed !!!

Car is continuing to stall. Dealer cannot find what is causing. Car stalled while making a left turn and was consequently hit by another car from behind. No major damage done, as we were only traveling about 5 mph. Car sputters a lot, stalls a lot, and is not safe for me and my 3 small children to drive. Tried to trade it in because I do not feel safe anymore after the wreck, but will cause me a huge financial loss to do this. Please look into this problem. This is complaint number 2 with NHTSA. I see the pacificas were just recalled because of this exact same problem... when will you look into the concords?

Car sputters, check engine light will come on suddenly, car will stall. Has happened while driving on freeway, as well as stop and go traffic. Has caused several near crashes. I have to pull over when car stalls, put car into park, and restart with no problems. Happens on several occasions, without regard to gas level or speed. Will also cause other components to malfunction, such as air conditioning, radio and cruise control. Has been happening for almost 6 mos now.
