The contact owns a 1996 Chrysler New yorker. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, an extremely strong odor of fuel emitted continuously inside of the vehicle. A fuel leak was not visible. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and an independent mechanic, who both stated that the fuel injector O-rings would need to be replaced. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign id number 98V1840000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure recurred and the manufacturer refused to repair the vehicle a second time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was unavailable.
