The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The contact stated that the button to the convertible top would not work unless it were pressed repeatedly. The contact also stated that the air conditioning unit stopped functioning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was told that the compressor to the air conditioning unit failed; yet, they were not sure what was wrong with the convertible top. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 34,000 and the current mileage was 53,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Consumer stated that he is having problems with his convertible top on his vehicle. He stated that it kept on rattling. Also, it has been happening since vehicle was purchased in September of 2000. He stated that the top has been repaired and replace 4 times, and now it is in need of a repair or replacement again. He also states that his dealer told him that they will not repair his top again, because it is nothing they can do about the rattling noise or anyway they can prevent the material from coming apart. He also said they told him that by doing his roof again, that they cannot make any money.

While braking, a squeaky noise comes from left rear, dealer contacted, replaced rear parking shoes and rotors, consumer still have a problem parking on a hill, would have to pull the emergency brake very hard to get it to hold. Consumer also stated that convertable top is noisy when coming uo to close.

While traveling 55-65mph on freeway with top down part of the device that houses hard top fell off into street, resulting in debris flying onto on coming and proceeding trafic. Consumer contacted dealer prior to this for same problem. Please provide furthur details.
