After pulling in a driveway, with the car still idling, heard a noise and the car began to overheat. The tensioner had broken off and fell down in the engine causing the idler pulley and belt to come off. Had the car towed to dealer and they installed a new belt and tensioner under warranty. My concern is that if it had happen moments before, when the car was still in motion, it would have caused a loss of control with possible serious consequences.

The engine stalls with no warning, usually when slowing or coming to a stop, but it has happened a few times at speeds up to 45 mph. After the engine stalls, it will sometimes not start unless I "race" the engine to keep it going. The dealer cannot duplicate this problem. We have paid to have the throttle body cleaned and to have the fuel filter replaced, but the problem continues. Since vehicle has power steering and brakes, these do not function during an engine stall, and I am concerned that this could eventually produce a collision.

This problem has occurred & been repaired 3 times since purchasing the vehicle. It stalls and you loses all power. This happened the first time as we were going over railroad tracks. It has happened while making left turns. This is extremely dangerous because you never know you have a problem until you are driving along and lose power. This was repaired by vero beach Chrysler the first time, and they said it was not covered under warranty. Ceconni Chrysler said it cetainly was a warranty item and got our money reimbursed by Chrysler. The second time it happened it was repaired gator Chrysler-Plymouth, melbourne, fl 32901. The mileage was 53,000 the second time and they said it was no longer warrantied. The third time it happened the mileage was 95,200 and we again paid for the repair. This is a very upsetting problem. It has happened during left hand turns.

Engine cuts out after long trips (200 miles at highway speeds). Appears as though the engine doesn't get fuel. After engine cools (20-30 minutes) the car starts again. Have had $700 worth of repairs at the dealer to fix fuel line, spark plug wires, etc. The dealer called detriot to diagnose via modem. They suggested replacing crank position sensor. It was replaced and problem continues. This is very dangerous because it occurs on the interstate at highway speeds without warning. We have been on the side of the road at all hours of the night with trucks hurtling past us. The dealer keeps guesing what is wrong without any firm commitment that the next "fix" is the right one. They want to replace the fuel pump next and the electronic control unit next if that isn't the problem. That is another $900 without any true knowledge what the problem is. I heard the motorman radio talk show January 9 0R 10 and a caller complained about the very same problem. The motorman said this was common with Chrysler mini-vans and that it is the electronic control module that overheats and cuts the signal to the spark plugs. Please check into this because it is a danger to motorists.
