Caliber 1.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 197,200 miles

With the mileage of the car, this wasn't too much of a surprise but it occurred a month after I got it back from the shop for something else so just really annoying.

Caliber SXT 1.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 71,458 miles

The clutch in the 2007 Dodge Caliber I own, would not shift properly. It was like there was air in the line to the slave cylinder. My husband is a Class A mechanic by trade and tried to bleed the line as shown on a Dodge Caliber website. He wasn't able to get into the actual slave cylinder its self, because it is located in a place that you need to be able take the transmission apart. We took it to the Galt Chrysler Dodge dealership here in Cambridge, Ontario on July 11/15 and they promised to have it looked at and fixed.

On Monday July 13/15 we called to see what was happening and learned that nothing had been done. My husband spoke to Dave the service representative and advised him to just replace the slave cylinder and remove the piece of the oxygen sensor tip that had never been touched, but we were told had broken off. On Wed July 15/15 we called again and spoke to Dave the service technician. only to be told that still nothing had been done to our car, as they were waiting for the go ahead. My So and husband made a trip to the Galt Chrysler Dodge dealership to speak in person to the Service Representative, we were told it would be fixed by Friday July 17/15.

We called on Friday July 17/15 to inquire when we could come and pick up our vehicle. We were then told that it would not be done until late Friday evening. We were not offered a car to use during the 1 week without out our vehicle and my son had to rent a car @ $350 per week in order to be able to go back and forth to work in Guelph Ontario and I have had to take cabs to and from my work and doctor's appointments that I had during this week. The service at Galt Chrysler dodge dealership has been the worst I have every experienced in all the years I have been driving a Chrysler product since 1966.

I think the fact the car was having issues shifting due to the fluid in the slave cylinder not working properly, should be considered a Safety Hazard. I think that Chrysler Canada should cover our costs of having to have this issue fixed at Galt Chrysler Dodge Dealership as well as put out a Recall on any other Manual Transmission Calibers, because I read that several other people have had this same issue with their Calibers on a online website I viewed, trying to find help for my issue. I would appreciate any help that you could provide me.
