Charger

  • 3,500 miles
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Charger. While driving 40 mph, the engine rpms increased to 5,000 without warning and caused the speed to increase to 90 mph. The contact powered the vehicle off and back on and the throttle warning indicator illuminated. The rpms increased to 7,000 while the vehicle was parked. The contact turned the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle and the accelerator pedal failed to respond. The contact depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle and the push button failed to power the vehicle off until after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed that the accelerator pedal failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,500. The VIN was unavailable.
