power steering failure power steering failure

Luckily had just made it home from vacation with my daughter. Drove fine home, unloaded the car and was going to run a quick errand and like other complaints, the dash lit up going crazy and steering was almost impossible to turn. I immediately parked and had car towed to the dealership. I was told it needs a new power steering pump assembly and would be $1700. I'm seeing this is somewhat common even in lower mileage vehicles. The car is less than 4 years old, just seems like this is a poor system used and definitely should be investigated as a possible recall. I'm so thankful this didn't happen on the freeway traveling at 70-75mph...I probably wouldn't be here to type this!

I've had several problems with this Dodge Charger from when I bought it at only 40K miles. Electrical, relating to steering and other issues.

The Dash lit up like a Christmas tree while driving - the power steering went out and it was hard to control. After I parked the car, turned it off and restarted an hour or so later when I went to take it to the dealership, it was completely fine! No warning lights, I started driving it again and about 5 minutes into the trip, it again lit up like a Christmas tree! I've read complaints about this happening in the Challengers - I imagine same power steering system. This needs to be looked into for recall.

I swore I would never buy another Dodge - I guess shame on me for buying another - their cars are JUNK. Dodge/Chrysler should be dropped into the DO NOT BUY category. Their service departments are awful too - I've dealt with a couple locally, they can never get you in, and always act like you are the problem when you ask questions about recalls - a car with this little mileage should not have so many problems! I'm going back to Chevy and Hyundai - they are reliable and Dodge is garbage.
