2014 Dodge charge police car loses all power steering when turned left. We have 4 of these models at our police Agency and all 4 are doing the same thing. After speaking with several other police chief's, they all stated that the electrostatic power steering pump was bad and it was a multiple thousand dollar fix for them. Our local Dodge dealer says to fix each fleet car, the cost will be over $2000 per car. With this many issues, there should be an investigation and a recall. Further, when the vehicle is in motion and the steering wheel is turned left, all power steering is lost.

While driving my car just about every light on my dash flashed on then the steering wheel light stayed on; as it became hard for me to turn wheel after I had pulled over to turn car off. I took to mechanic and he detected that it was the power steering pump. The mechanic called dealership for car part the next day because Dodge service department was closed because of holiday. So today when he called he said they informed him that it was a common problem with the Dodge Chargers. My question is if it is known to be a problem with the power steering pump with the Dodge Chargers shouldn’T it be a recall on it.

Power steering pump has devoloped a leak. 65,000 miles. Pumps are on backorder making it appear to be a very common issue. Driving on highways is fine. Makes for steering at slow speeds in parking lots communities etc very difficult.

Power steering goes out completely without warning, wasn't out of fluid completely but added some and went out again after, car was inspected and nothing is wrong with the pump or reservoir and shouldn't go out. It goes out while driving down the road then comes back on, does not make any noises or anything else, cannot turn and randomly comes on and off while driving

'takata recall' driving my vechicle on city roads is fine, the vechicle runs perfectly but taking it in the highway is another problem. Picking up highway speeds the dashboard begins to shake as well as the steering wheel. It happens when I reach 80mph and is a concern to me. I've never experienced a problem like that in a vechicle so I thought it was a problem and told the dealership where I brought the vechicle from. Unfortunately the problem wasn't resolved so I'm askinging is this a problem I should worry about

I was sitting in my car in front of my house. I went to start the car then my dashboard was blinking with engine light, battery light and brake light. Then suddenly I seen "service power steering " my wheel was extremely hard to turn. I took it up to the stealers to tell me it's a electrical pump issue that will cost me 2,000 dollars. This electrical issue came out of no where. After I reading different consumers testimony, I noticed this has been an ongoing issue with their steering pump. If I was out on the road and my steering where stopped on me, I could've been died. It should be a law suit filed on them. I would not recommend anyone to ever purchase anything from Dodge.

11-23-16, driving on interstate at 65 mph in a 70mph, suddenly steering wheel began to pull by itself left to right repeatedly for about 3-4 seconds, I nearly lost control, braked gently and steering returned to normal, ,battery saver mode came on a short before this happened, 2 hours later on a 40 mph city street I was making a normal low speed left turn on a green light, car seemed to not go where I steered it and we hit a traffic control pole, deploying all airbags, there was a light drizzle in both instances, but this was not a hydroplane, battery saver mode was on for over 4 hours during our entire trip until our accident.

I have been working with fca since 8/31/16, so for 28 days now, that I have been without power steering. I filed my first complaint on, or around 9/12/16. I experienced the exact same symptoms as stated in NHTSA PE14022 while driving down the highway at apporximately 65mph. Every warning light went off flashing, service transmission message, service power steering, and tach, and speedo would drop to zero, and I would lose engine power, and power steering. I captured the incident on video, and provided the video to NHTSA, I will again provide a link for the video here : https://youtu.be/E96hvqpep10. In dealing with fca llc, they refuse to replace the electric hydraulic power steering pump that was fried from this incident occuring. Fca is saying that it was the "2 year old mopar battery" that caused the incident, and refuse to replace the ehps pump that worked perfectly fine before this occured. I replaced the alternator per NHTSA recall no. 14V-634 a great deal of time prior to this incident occuring. Fca is trying to circumvent having to replace the pump by changing the origin of the means to the battery, instead of the alternator. I have been extremely frustrated with how fca refuses to acknowledge all of the proof given to them. I am not alone in this, there had been many complaints filed with similar results as mine in dealing with fca. It's time for NHTSA to do something to remedy this issue with fca. Fca offered to replace the $1400 ehps pump if I pay a $500 co-pay, I refuse to accept this offer based on the principle of the matter. The true origin of all of the issue's I'm currently having, is from the original alternator that was in the car for a year and a half initially, and during that time it was improperly charging the battery that possibly caused the battery to ultimately fail on 8/31/16. Please see attached files. Failure mileage 81332

On August 29th 2016 I was returning(driving on US20) home from some official business, when my dash started flashing, all the warning lights would flash, the speed displayed would go up, and down, and the car started changing gears. There was a ticking sound coming from my gear shift, like it was trying to select gear. The power steering light, and service transmission message keep coming up as well. I would intermittenly lose power steering during this, and power from the engine would lag also. I have a three minute, and thirty-five second video of what was occuring. I contacted some mechanic friends that work on Indiana state police Chargers, and they thought it could be the battery shorting out. The next morning I replaced the battery, and installed properly with positive post first. This seem to resolve the dash flashing symptoms, but I then had no power steering at all. I took to our local Dodge dealer in lagrange, in they ran a diagnostic analysis, and determined the electronic power steering pump was no good. The power steering pump worked perfectly fine with no issues at all, ever, before these electrical issues occured. This vehicle is used to Transport the us congressman, when he is in the district on official business, and we need it repaired asap. It is my opinion, the power steering pump was destroyed by the electrical issues concerning the recall on this vehicle. It is also my opinion that fac llc should replace the power steering pump at no cost per the consent order pertaining to this recall. I am trying to get the video to email, at this point, the video is to long to email.

While driving and preparing to turn my vehicle took control and I was no longer able to break or turn. Thankfully there was nobody in the neighbor at the time and with less than a foot from hitting the stop sign I was able to stop. I took it to the dealer where I purchased (1.5 years prior)and they said nothing was wrong just needed a new battery. I insisted this was not the issue so the manager had his associate test drive to come to the same conclusion the steering and brake system is fine. Not happy I left after purchasing the battery and here we are 1.5 weeks later with the same issue. I tried to drive out of work yesterday and I lost control to my steering and it locked. I put my car in park and tried once more the same thing happened, I then try to restart but it would not allow me to do so. I had to disconnect the battery and it started. Not feeling safe for my life I left the car at work and still do not want to drive it. From what I am reading I am not the only 2014 Dodge Charger having this issue. I need this fixed if I was on the freeway who knows what would have happened.

We bought our car new, it has been at the Dodge dealer for repairs for the same things over and over for 6 months total time in shop. 1. the battery saver mode comes on, and then the steering gets hard, the alt. Has been replace, extra wiring added to add more grounds. This affects the way the car drives. When the battery saver mode is on the power steering stops working or works less. The power steering pump and rack and pinion has been replaced twice. This problem happens every day, in town or on the freeway. 2. the radio keeps shorting out, it's been replaced 3 times. This happens daily, it quits, blew out the speakers, navagtion stopped working. 3. the heater keeps getting stuck on either 100% hot or 100% A/C on cold. Settings will not change. Controls have been replaced 3 times, the heat/cold door motor was replace twice. The car has spent 185 days in service this year. When they give the car back it acts up in about 5 mins. The car is going back in for the radio and battery saver mode and steering on Monday. I picked the car up Friday and it failed less than a mile from the dealership.

I was stopped at an intersection with a 4 way stop. A car pulled up to my left so I pulled into the intersection. I began pulling into the intersection to make a left turn and another car came speeding up, pulled around the car to my left and hit my car on the left (driver's) side. I was thrown forward and hit my head on the sunvisor, causing a subdural hematoma in my head. This resulted in my spending 8 days in he icu unit of memorial hospital, springfield, Illinois

When the wheel is turned, a noise is being heard, squeaking, in certain positions, steering is ok but the noise is very intimidating, also, there was noise coming out of the engine bay into the car one day, it stopped so that's off the list, but as I read online, the steering wheel problem is common among Dodge owners, and dealers refuse to fix or acknowledge the problem, not to mention that the vehicle is fairly new..... less than a year old....
