Dakota 3.9L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 345,000 miles

Motor would cut off! No electrical interruptions, stopped while shifting, idling, running down the highway (at 60 mph), doesn't seem to matter. It's infrequent, no regular pattern that I can see. I've replaced everything electrical as well as the fuel pump, muffler, timing chain. It's getting to the point where I'm replacing parts that still have their warranty (I'm on the third computer), any help would be very much appreciated.

I've used synthetic oil every 5000 miles since 50,000. The motor still runs smooth except at idle where there is a slight surging of the speed.

Dakota 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 160,000 miles

Dodge Dakota I bought used would stall out at stop. To fix I ran a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner thru fuel system and changed air filter. Have not had another problem since this occurred. Would suggest doing this every so often and/or cleaning and regapping spark plugs. If run off road be sure to change air filter and oil more often.

Dakota Sport 3.9L V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 155,000 miles

It's just really annoying. Only happens when you start it warm. You need to hold the accelerator down to keep it running! Sometimes when I come up to a red light and hit the clutch, it just shuts off! Happens often in 4WD.
