Dakota SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

Began to notice shuddering feel and noise (similar to being low on PS fluid, although the fluid level was OK) when turning steering wheel left at low speed. Dealer said rack was leaking, replaced it. Noise still there, truck drove very squirrelly. Took it back to dealer; they replaced a steering link and gave it a 4 wheel alignment as a "courtesy". Truck drives decent now, but not great. Noise is still there. They said it's air in the system and it could take 6000 miles to work it out. I have driven 5500 miles since the rack was replaced, and at 6000 miles they're going to see it again. Typical dealer BS!!

My company currently uses the dodge dakotas as our vehical of choice. We have about 30 of these across the country. Every single truck has the same things wrong with it. The front ends are all being rebuilt as the ball joints and steering cant handle the roads. The injectors are acting up on half the trucks and the transmissions are now an issue. these trucks are a money hole and i can really say that i would never buy a dodge again just from this expirience.
