In 2013 I bought a new Dodge Dart Limited from a Dodge dealer. I bought the car in March and by October when it got cooler outside, it was evident there were some electrical issues related to the Uconnect screen blanking out and dash lights flickering while driving or when ABS engaged, and engine and battery lights on. The whole car seemed like it was resetting as everything electrical flickered and turned off and then on again. I took the car back to the dealership while it was under warranty at least 3 times to no avail. It would sometimes come back on after turning the car off for a period of time but then it turned off and stayed off for days. The Dodge mechanics claimed they could not get the problem to come up for them at all during yearly visits from 2014-2018. I researched the internet for solutions and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery seemed to fix it so that became a temporary resolution. After a while it became much more consistent and the battery trick didn't always work anymore. So I went to a second Dodge dealership in 2019 when my car was at the end of it's warranty and they did see the issue occur and decided to replace the screen all together. That next winter the problem came back so I went back to the dealership and this time they replaced the body control module. It's the next winter and the center console is completely out so I cannot control hazard lights, the turn signals don't make noise, backup camera is out, seat controls don't work, rear defrost never turns on but the front defrost blasts hot air constantly causing fog. I feel unsafe as I cannot see out of the rear window due to consistent under 40 degrees temps. The dash lights went completely out yesterday and I could not see my speedometer, but it came back on 60 min later. The engine and battery lights are on constantly since the weather changed. The dash lights are a huge safety concern as I don't know how fast I'm driving and it happens while the car is in motion.

The interior lights, trunk lights and cigarette lighter stopped working. The windshield wipers started sticking in the on position and then got to where they just would not shut off. I took the car to the dealership where they changed the BCM module for nearly $600 only to find it was not the problem. I do not have answers but see numerous complaints related to 2013 Dodge Dart windshield wipers not turning off and people paying upwards of $1000 to try to remedy the issue. This should not be our responsibility. The issue is present whenever the car is on. The mechanic said the wiper motor is getting 12 volts even while the car is off!

It was dark outside and I started my car, but the head lamps didn't come on even though they were in the automatic setting. I tried to turn the knob to manually turn the lights on, but that wouldn't work. I turned the car off and then restarted it, but had the same issue. I tried to turn my bright lights on, but they wouldn't come on either. I was then stranded in a dark parking lot, unable to drive my car.

I have had to take the car in every 2,000 miles or so to have it recalibrated(engine light on), the drivers headlight went out, shop where I bought it said it's the headlight assembly, bought one and had regular mechanic put in, did not work. My regular mechanic said it is probably the headlight control module, and since I need to take it in again for recalibration I am trying to find out if the module was checked and have it replaced. Sorry I bought this car, it's in the shop every 3-4 months!!!

Vehicle is equipped with projector-style headlights. I have 3 major complaints about this style of headlight. 1) the performance is substandard when used in high-beam mode. The width of light beam is too narrow, I.e. too much light is focused straight ahead and not enough is projected on shoulders & area adjacent to roadway making it difficult to see on curved roads. This is due to a design compromise resulting from using the same focusing lens on low-beam operation. 2)lighting is reduced when used in low-beam mode. The shutter that blocks upper portion of the beam reduces the quantity of light cast on roadway. 3) safety hazard is created for other vehicles when projector-style headlights approach or follow another vehicle. The intensity of the light beam is very high causing other motorists to be blinded when a projector-style headlight shines directly into the eyes of another motorist. This happens frequently when driving on hills, around curves, and when being approached or following a vehicle of a different height. (sedans being lower than SUVS or light trucks) my complaints are not limited to my vehicle alone, but are directed to all vehicles using projector-style headlights. While projector-style headlights have good vertical cut-off, the advantage is lost by the other deficiencies. Plus, looking directly at a reflector-style headlight does not have the same blinding effect experienced by looking at projector-style lights. The result is no real advantage is obtained in this area. In my opinion, the older, reflector-style headlights are more effective in illuminating the roadway, and do not have the blinding glare of projector-style headlights. I would like to see projector-style headlights undergo redesign to eliminate the glare problems and improve roadway illumination. If that is not technically possible, then they should be eliminated.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that when turning on the motor, the vehicle indicated that the led license plate bulb failed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated that the bulb needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer again. The dealer replaced the BCM however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10. The VIN was not available.

When starting to slide on ice a notification flashes where your mileage should show but it disappears so quick due to the fact that the engine shuts down for a few seconds along with all electrical inside and outside of the vehicle ( no speedometer no stereo no touch screen no lights in or out) however while sliding if you let your foot off the break the engine and all the lights seem to reboot and the car gains power again. Not safe and scary as hell when driving in a upstate NY snow storm

Eight months after purchasing the vehicle the BCM (body control module) failed causing door locks and trunk release not the function this happened while the vehicle wasstationary or in motion on city streets or the highway. After the BCM was replaced the interior lights stop functioning along with the dashboard lights flickering. This also happened while the vehicle wasstationary or in motion on city streets or the highway. The vehicle traction control and cruise control both malfunction while the vehicle wasstationary or in motion on city streets or the highway. Turned on car in the morning, noticed the back lighting on the instrument panel was really dim, I checked the dimming switch to see if I moved it by unknowingly. I tried adjusting the switches but nothing worked. I turned off the car and restarted it and no change they were still very dim. I went ahead and drove to my destination. On the trip there the lights for the instrument cluster/panel as well as the back lighting for my 8.4" screen and A/C and radio lights turned off for about 10 seconds, and then everything turned back on, but still very dim. I got to my destination turned off car, got out and left the car for about 20 minutes, came back and started it and everything was normal. Since then, it has happened everyday this week so far. I plan on contacting Dodge/Chrysler to see if they can assist before I go to the dealer.

The headlights on this car are extremely dim. The accident referenced above caused no damage because I was able to avoid going into a ditch at an intersection because of the slow speed. However, I cannot see anything in the side-ditches while driving at night. I reported this to my dealer and the service manager drove it both at night and in the morning darkness. When I asked him about it, he replied there was nothing wrong and "they are just not very bright, and were about like the Chrysler 200. My roommate has a Dodge charger 2014, and his lights are as bright as most cars lights are. As this situation in these Darts could cause deaths, I feel this model car should be checked out thoroughly and brighter headlights installed, and a recall made for those already on the road.

I have had several issues with this car. For starters when driving it will all of a sudden stop going for no reason. The car didn't die it simply doesn't go. The RPM's stopped working on one occasion and the head light blew out all in the same night. Dealer said there was no connection, so I had to replace the head light for $100. They advised the ground wire was lose so they tightened it. I had my tire blow out for no reason just driving down the road and it blew. Now on occasions my automatic door locks aren't working. And still wont go when giving it gas. It sounds like there is some kind of electrical problem with this model vehicle. I love my car would want a new one. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle at the time until it is fixed. There are no recalls on the vehicle and my warranty is almost up with problems repeating. I don't know what else to do. I just wish Dodge would fix whatever problems there are.
