thermostat failure

I purchased this vehicle 5 months ago and a new thermostat is needed when the engine light (solid; not flashing), came on. I was able to attend to it several days later with only necessary driving being done during this time.

Dealer says "no recall". This will be huge issue when the car requires OBD emissions check to pass state inspection. $530 to get Dealer to fix.

I bought the car used in July 2017 so I haven't had it very long. This is the 3rd issue I've had (I'll be adding the other two shortly).

Check engine light came on last week but didn't get a chance to bring it in until yesterday. My thermostat is faulty and won't close and needs to be replaced. I brought it in to my mechanic and unfortunately it's not covered under my extended warranty either.

I love Dodge, but I am not loving the issues I've been having.

I was leaving work and went on the highway and all of a sudden the engine light came on. I took it to get the code and they said it is the thermostat. I only had this car for five months and the thermostat needs to be replaced. I used to be a Dodge fan. I had a Dodge Avenger for four years with no problems. only regular maintenance. I would still have it but someone hit me and totaled it. I thought the Dodge Dart would be a very good replacement. but It is beginning to be an nightmare, This is the second problem I have had with this car in five months. I am seriously considering change of dealer all together. Ford,Honda,Chevy etc. maybe!!!

dodge knew they had a problem with the 2.4L thermostats and they need to issue a recall so others don't suffer from this. Chrysler needs to re-design a better and more reliable engine and stand behind their product when it has issues. This engine is in other vehicles that have recalls due to problems so this isn't an isolated incident.
