Durango SLT 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

the front bumper and lower front fenders near the front bumper - rust out prematurely, the fix is rather simple, but kind of a pain in the butt:

Remove fenders and bumper from the vehicle, I bought a bedliner rhino kit from walmart (50.00) I used 80 grit then 220 grit sandpaper to rough up the surface the inside of the fenders, and the backside of the bumper I then washed them off good - let them dry then I applied the bedliner to the inside of the fenders and the bumper. Now let it dry completely then re-attach the parts to the truck.

This will stop the rust from coming back - at least for about 5-6 years or more.

I plan on doing the same to the rear tail gate, removing the inside panel to get to the metal inside.
