I purchased a 2005 Dodge Durango brand new, and since I had this vehicle it has been given me problems. There were recalls on this vehicle. The vehicle idled very hard, and it shut off when it idled hard, while sitting at a traffic light or when turning to go around a ramp. When shutting off the wheel locked, and I could not control the car. Recently, the care shut off on the New Jersey turnpike and a tractor trailer truck was behind me. Luckily, I was in the outer lane and managed to steer the car to the shoulder before the truck could hit me and my family. This was very dangerous. Last incident happened on une 10, 2007. Every time I took the car to the dealer they determined there was no problem.

SUV stalls with I make a turn or just slow down. I almost hit someone making a turn because the car stalled. My car has been in the shop about 3 times for this problem. They looked at it and the Dodge people and could not fix it. Then they gave me a computer that would collect data about the car when the problem happened. I drove with the computer in the car for about 2 weeks. They did not find any information that would help them fix the car. Then they replaced the ignition switch. The problem did not happen for a long time. But it has happened about 3 times after they did that.

Transmission slipped out of gear in middle of intersection, would not go back in gear. Vehicle was towed, according to dealership just needed transmission service. The service was done and vehicle broke down again- same problem- two weeks later. This time dealer claimed vehicle was low on transmission fluid ( even though service was done 2 weeks/ 50 miles prior) transmission now shifts rough from first to second and third to fourth gear. According to dealer nothing is wrong with transmission.

I purchased my 2005 Dodge Durango last March and in June it started stalling while I was driving! it would happen while driving in town and I noticed it a lot when I made right turns. There was no warning...didn't make any sounds, no lights came on...I would just try to push the gas and there was nothing. It was all I could do to get it pulled off the road and avoid getting hit! this happened about 5 times within a two week period before I thought it was fixed. The first time it occurred I took it straight to the dealership and they could find nothing wrong. The computer did not pick up any errors and there was nothing they could do for me. Then after it happened a few more times I took it straight there again and they found a software update. This seemed to have fixed it. So I thought until now. Last week it started again...1 time while making a right turn. I came very close to getting hit and now I have a 3 month old baby riding in the car to worry about also. So, I thought great here we go again. I waited for it to happen once more before I took it back to the dealership and a few days later it happened again while making a right turn in town. Again, they are saying there are no errors in the computer and they have no idea how to fix the problem or that it is even "really" happening! so in other words I am making this up! this time I was not taking my car back until I could be absolutely sure that it is safe to drive. It took me an hour of going round and round with them before they broke down and gave me a rental. They are going to have one of their mechanics test it for a few days and try to get it to happen while he is driving it. In the mean time, I am filing for the lemon law which could take up to four weeks and I know they are not going to let me keep a rental for that long! so I have no idea what I am going to do for now. Hopefully it happens while the mechanic is driving it and they can come up with a solution.

: the contact stated the vehicle will not go into reverse. After several attempts it will go into reverse but when it jerks and lurches forward. In March of 2005 the vehicle was taken to the dealership where test were performed but the dealer could not duplicate the problem. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership in April of 2005 still experiencing the same type of problems. Still the dealer could not duplicate the problem. In July of 2005 the vehicle was taken to a different dealership, after diagnostics test the problem was still undetermined. In December the contact received a recall letter the NHTSA campaign #05V460000 concerning the power train: Automatic transmission. In December 2005 the vehicle was taken to the dealership for the recall repairs to be performed. The vehicle is still experiencing the same problems as before the recall repairs. The manufacturer has been alerted.

(1) normal driving on I-4 about 75 mph (2) wanted to accelerate and the rpms would not go past 3000. I tried several attempts to go faster as it usually does go well beyond 3000 but no avail. I even put it in neutral while driving and the same thing occured. (3) I placed the truck in neutral turned ignition off then on, problem solved and has not occured since then at the time I had about 2100 miles on the truck. (1) about 3 weeks after the other incident I was had just turned my truck on for the second time during the day and was about to drive when (2) just shut off with no warning, my odometer went blank and my clock went off (3) I just restarted after setting the gear selector back to neutral and it stared with no problem

I have a 2005 Dodge Durango approximately 5000 miles. There have been several occasions (six incidents) where I was driving the vehicle and I had problems accelerating, the accelerator was revving up and I could not go faster than 20 mph. I felt as though the transmission would not shift, the RPM gauge would not go past 1. on another occasion, I was going on the freeway 65mph, and the incident occurred again, this time my car slowed down to 40mph and I could not pickup speed, I panicked because I was on the freeway with my kids and I was afraid someone was going to hit me from behind. I immediately exited the freeway and took the car to the dealership. The car was driven by a service tech and the same thing happened to him. When he put it on the computer nothing would happen. So I got my car back, on the 2nd day after the incident occurred again. I went back to the dealership and again they said nothing was wrong. The service dept would not do anything because nothing showed up on the computer. We contacted daimler Chrysler and the vehicle was at the dealer for the 3rd time. They said it might have been an electrical component or that the transmission needed to be tightened (whatever that means) they drove it for a week and they stated nothing happened while they were driving it. They said that "the computer adjust to each driver differently and because I may be a slow accelerator (meaning I gently touch the gas pedal that maybe this was happening to me" I stated that this incident had not only happened to me, but my husband as well. I got the vehicle thinking maybe it would be fine, but yesterday as I was driving my kids the incident occurred again, and I could not accelerate past 20mph on a 45mph lane. The engine was revving up as though I had the car on neutral and it would not move. I don't know what to do anymore, please help. On March 14, 2005 I purchased a 2005 Dodge Durango. To date this vehicle has been in the shop 4 times. The first time it tore up I was getting on the interstate when I pressed the gas to accell the vehicle lost all power. Vehicle was taken to the shop and I was told that the computer lost it's mind and had to be reset. The second time it did the same thing only this time the shop could not find any thing wrong. The third time it done this I was setting at a red light and the vehicle lost power and would not go over 15 mph. Vehicle was towed to shop and repaired it. I was told that it was the number 4 fuel injection. The last time it tore up was this past weekend. I had all 5 of my children in the car. I was attempting to get on the interstate and the vehicle lost power. I was forced into the emergency lane and almost hit by a tractor trailer. I contacted Chrysler and they keep telling me to contact the dealership that I purchased it from. The dealership tells me to contact Chrysler. Please help me with this problem.

On the new 2005 Dodge Durangos V6 there could be the possibilty of a roll back on a hill or incline the car does not want to take the gas when being accelerated and it fells as if it would roll backwards at any time I returned my new one and had to take a big loss on my purchase and then I got a V8 instead they did not even acknowleged the car as having a problem because they said it was to knew to make any adjustment yet and had to wait and see if the manufacturer makes a ajustment or a recall. I just want someone to make note of this problem in case some was to get hurt because of this problem with the Durango I was afraid and scared when I went up a hill and it did not respond right when it was suppose to take the gas and it wouldnt and I was not even on big hill and I would hate to have to drive it around any mountain resorts it could be dangerous in my opion, but my dealership acted as if it had no problem and that was very upsetting to me they acted as if it was something I was doing wroung but I have never had any kind of problem or every experienced any problems like this before. So please make note of this I may help someone in the future because I talked to Chrysler reps and they acted like it was no big deal and that was very wrong to be brushed off like I was now I know why people do get hurt because of people not wanting to deal with it because they dont want to admit there is a problem so I took a big loss in my purchase because I could not find any one to help me with this problem or fix it and I did not want to get hurt they would not help me.
