Durango SLT Adventurer 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission

I EXPECTED THE QUALITY OF A DODGE TRUCK TO BE WHAT I AM ACCUSTOMED TO - THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I GOT FUEL SPRAYED ALL OVER ME AND THANKFULLY I DON'T SMOKE. RUINED MY SHOES AND I HAD TO CHANGE IN THE GAS STATION.

HOW HARD IS THIS TO FIX? CERTAINLY SAVE ME FUEL - NOT THAT THE MILEAGE IS GREAT ANYWAY.

I MAY HAVE TO SELL THIS TRUCK. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.

This should be cover as a recall. Fuel spiting back on you and clothing is not safe.

Durango SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,000 miles

I just purchased this vehicle on 11/19/12 and went to the gas station to fill it up. When it shut off it spit out alot of fuel, enough to be very dangerous. Since then it has happened every time I fill it up, no matter how slow I pump it. I understand that Dodge had a recall on some models but not on others. I want Chrysler to fix this problem free of charge. This is a very strong safety issue and I think Chrysler would rather fix this than deal with someone getting burned or killed. If you can help me in any way, I will be forever grateful. Tom B.

No matter what I do or how slow I fill it when it gets close to full it spits out at least 2 cups of gas. I cand believe there hasn't been someone seriously hurt. I expect to see a law suit on this because someone is going to get hurt bad someday. I was told by my Dodge dealer that the only way to fix the problem is to replace at a cost of about $750.00. and this has been a problem for Dodge since the 1990's. I rented one of these once and loved it . I always drove Ford or GM before. At first I thought I was switching to Dodge, but my wife wont even put gas in it I have to take it to town to fill it every time. So since Dodge wont take care of this problem they have lost a potential customer. But I will be driving an Expedition by the end of the year. Also If someone ask me how I like my Dodge I tell them I will never own another one. I have also told my employees so they can spread the word also. I also have an excavating business and I have 3 small Ford dump trucks and now I know I will stick with Ford or GM.

Update from Feb 23, 2012: Since, I sent out my complaint on this site, I have recieved a notice from Dodge saying there has been a lifetime extended warranty for this problem. I took it to my Dodge Dealer and they replaced the fill tube and checkvalve with an new one in less than an hour. It works great. I now am very pleased and I tell everyone that Dodge does stand behind there vehicles. Although they said mine was the first one that they ever replaced at this dealer so I'm not sure if every one trecieved this extended warranty or if it was just because I complained on this website. Either way I'm very happy now because my wife is happy now. Thanks Car complaint and Dodge. Mike Stuckey Ffremont, In.

Dodge says it's not under a recall, but Chrysler did recall the same item for the same reason for Jeeps.
