Durango Citadel 3.2L LV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 135,000 miles

I had a recall on the alternator which was deemed to have gone back when I was going 70 mph during morning traffic on the interstate. My car systems shut down one by one until the car completely went out. I was told that the TIPM stater relay on the circuit board went bad and that the PCM vacuum pump driver and fuel pump driver were now always on.

I was told that even though these problems all occurred simultaneously and are all electronic systems through which the alternator governs power that it could not be determined that they are attributed to the recalled bad alternator. After much research, I have discovered that my exact issue was involved in a Class Action Lawsuit filed against Chrysler and settled. However the close date of the settlement was Dec. 2015 so I am out of luck according to Chrysler at this time.

The cost of this repair has been estimated at $1910 even though the TIPM failure which is also responsible for the PCM issues is a known issue for Chrysler. How it cannot be all tied together is absurd, 3 systems failing all at once and they all failed independently AND the two system failures would have caused the car to not run is unacceptable.

September 2016 I was driving my 2012 BLACK DODGE DURANGO CREW.......when I started to receive messages, i.e....just words...... and my windshield wipers started running on their own. Oct 1, 2016.. I drove to the CVS drug store, parked it. When I came out my FOB was not working so I used the key....i reached for the manual...I SUGGEST KEEP ONE IN YOUR VEHICLE....started reading and reading.......my neighbor came down and hooked the cables up...the car started....i was thrilled....after removing the cables ..the car died...after numerous tries....we had the car towed...the mechanic worked on the car replaced the alternator and the battery...after 300.00 dollars i picked the car up...drove it home. Next day on my way to work...i drove the car a few blocks and it stalled on me in the middle of the road blocking traffic...i had it towed for the 2nd time..the mechanic worked on it for 2 days...2 alternators later...we had the car towed for the 3rd time.....the mechanic had it for 2 days.....and finally fixed it....it was the TIPM...............

Durango Crew 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,259 miles

Driving normally for about an hour. Made 10 minute stop. Came out and car would not fire. Cranked for 20 seconds twice and nothing. Waited 5 minutes and it started. Went to pull out into traffic and it stalled. Cranked again, nothing. Then started. It happened again 2 days later. Took to dealer and they said it was a faulty TIPM and NOT COVERED by warranty or recall.

Durango RT 5.7L Hemi V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

Vehicle would not recognize the key and would not start. I had to manually start the vehicle and ANOTHER trip to the dealership. I have gone back at least 15 times since I purchased this car. I am EXTREMELY upset that Dodge is putting this type of product out.
