Durango Citadel Hemi

  • CVT transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Began problem of not starting, then became a starting and not continuing to run issue. I have taken car to 2 different Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge Dealerships in 2 different towns and it hasn't been identified and fixed as of yet. This began back in August when car was under warranty, but I'm told that the cost to now replace a TIPm is about $1,000.00 and they won't do this unless they are 100% sure of the problem. If so, I would be responsible for the cost. In the meantime, they are not sure of what the problem is because it has never died nor failed to start while in their shop at the testing equipment.

Chrysler has known about this problem with 2011-2012 model years. They should be notifying owners and fixing the problem.

Never buy a Chrysler product again. What good is a car that won't start.

Update from Jan 1, 2016: My dealer fixed the problem under recall

Durango RT 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,000 miles

2012 Dodge Durango you try to start it and it will crank over and won't start. Takes about 3-4 tries till it will start. Other times it will start up and shut right back down. Again takes about 3-4 times then stays running. Dealer says there's nothing wrong with, when ask if it could be the tipm they claim it has nothing to do with it starting.

Durango Crew V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 13,600 miles

I purchased my 2012 Dodge Durango Crew on Thursday 10/2/14 with 13k miles and by Saturday 10/4 I was already experiencing issues where the car would try to start by turning over, but not actually starting. It would keep turning over until I would push the push start button to stop it. I have now had the vehicle for about 2 months now and this has happened over a dozen times. I took it to the dealer on 10/31 and they said that the vehicle did not repeat the process, but noticed some codes in the system that they did reset. Within a few days my wife and I experienced the issue on 2 separate occasions.

Seeing that the dealer that I purchased the vehicle from is about 45 minutes or so from my house I was able to start taking it to a local Dodge dealer in town. They had the vehicle for 2 days and did not come across the issue (they said they tried to start it about 30 times). They said everything according to their diagnostics is showing up fine. I just went for an oil change today 12/1 and while they had it I suggested that they keep the radio on for awhile while doing the oil change as I have noticed sometimes that it has had trouble starting after I may have been sitting in the car for awhile with just the radio on. The technician brought the car to the front afterwards and said they didn't experience the issue. I was told that unless the check engine light is on it is hard to get a read on what may be happening. As I went to leave and start the car the issue occurred. Finally it happened while at the dealer. Unfortunately, they did not connect a machine to it to see if any codes came up, but thought that it could potentially be connected with a fuel pump issue that has been put on recall on the Jeep Cherokee. Waiting to hear back from the dealer or from Dodge to see what their next steps are. This issue needs to be resolved quickly as I do not want my family or myself to be stranded due to the car not starting.

Durango Crew 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission

I just bought this car 7 months ago and the car is giving me problems to turn on. I changed the battery and it is not that. The car has shut off on me while its in the park position. I had to pull the fuse to the gas line because the pump continued running when the car was turned off

Durango Crew 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,843 miles

Issue started while vehicle was under warranty, took it in and was told it was to do with theft control system but they "fixed" it and shouldn't have any issues. Of course the vehicle is now out of warranty and doing the same stuff. Fails to start when the ignition is pushed, will just crank and crank until you shut it down. After things warm up or try enough it will go to start, then act like it isn't getting fuel at all, sputter and die and the process starts over. Finally after trying for what seems like an hour it kicks in and goes no problems the rest of the day. At random driving it will sputter or when the vehicle comes to a stop, it will jerk. Random engine rev up etc.
