Purchased car used in 2012, noticed some bubbling along the front of the hood. This has progressed to severe rust and a piece of the hood about the size of a quarter rusting off. I have noticed every other car my age/model has the same rust pattern on the hood, as if it were a defective paint job.

I own a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, the clear coat has started peeling off, and now the paint is flaking off. I can start seeing the metal of the van, also I have rust not only where the clear coat and paint have flaked off but also in and around all of my door jams. I have taken care of the van with regular washing and waxes, but obviously it was a large waste of my time.

clear coat bubbling and peeling off

I have taken my van to two different body shops. I am told my van has "cancer." It will cost about $4,000 to fix it. Dodge will not do anything because it is out of warranty. I have maintained my van and have never had a vehicle do this to me before.

I can't believe this is happening. I have a 2000 and the paint is fine and it is Metallic Gold. The 2005 is white, but the clear coat has yellowed and peeling all over.
