After bringing my car to Gurnee Dodge to have the low pressure power steering return line repaired. I did some searching and see that there is a recall for my model year but not the month of my van's build. Dealership told me to call Dodge to see if they will do a goodwill repair since it's the same problem on the same part. While talking to the rep at Dodge corporate (who was very nice) he said he could not help with the repair and he checked with the service manager at Gurnee Dodge and they were already giving me a goodwill discount... I was never told I was getting a discounted price. The price I was quoted was $490.00 for the repair. The service manager told Dodge that the repair should be in the area of $600.00+. Again, I was never told that. So the nice rep with Dodge checks with his manager to see if they can do anything to help me, they can't. He asked if I would like to have his manager call me tomorrow, I agreed. After I hung up with the rep I called another Dodge dealership on a whim to see what the actual cost they would charge to do the same repair. I did not give that service writer any info about the problems I was having and just told her the problem and was quoted $320.00 for the part and repair, a full $120.00 LESS than the supposed "discount price" offered by my dealer one town away.
At this point, I don't feel like I can trust my dealer any more and unless they and dodge can come to an agreement they will not get my business this summer when it comes time to buy a new van. I will update this post after I talk to the supervisor tomorrow.

this is the fifth time this has happen getting sick of it will not buy dodge van again they need to fix this problem and pay the money spent on the many repairs

The failure of our steering occurred suddenly and without warning at highway speeds. Fortunately, my husband was driving at the time, and had the strength to get us over to the shoulder of the road. As we were driving home from Christmas holidays, we were left waiting for roadside assistance for over an hour with a loaded van in sub-zero temperatures and two hungry, tired children late at night. We just were just grateful at that point that no one was hurt. Again, we had bought a new vehicle thinking we would have peace-of-mind traveling in Saskatchewan in the winter. Not in a Dodge. Every subsequent winter the steering has blown at least once!!

This is the fifth time this same problem has occurred. We bought a new vehicle thinking we would have a reliable, safe family van and it is the exact opposite. We cannot feel safe wondering if the steering will fail at any time! The dealer's service department tells us that "they sell the majority of these vans in California, so..." So, after 4 tries they still can't fix it properly! We would never buy a Chrysler product again.

My wife heard a loud pop while backing out of the driveway. A power steering hose failed. Fluid leaked all over the drive way. The vehicle was towed in and it took a a few days to get it repaired. This one of many problems we have had with this vehicle. These vans are expensive to purchase. They have fantastic features. Why are they built so cheap? Shame on you Chrysler.
