Van would turn over but not start. So I would try again and again until it did start. After 4 months of this. on Christmas Eve, it failed to start and the battery died. I found a way to bypass the fuel pump relay via the fuse box and it worked. I ordered an external fuel pump relay to fix the problem. It's better than paying $1200+ for a new TIPM. If you are handy with cars the fuse box bypass is really easy. Google it.

After fixed TIPM and paid 1505 dollars, and new problem with left read signal light. I called Dodge again and they said that I have to pay 110 dollars for checking. And after checked and we had to pay 321 dollars extra to fix the wired because they said that it was separated. And again more problem, after picked our Caravan, when we open the sliding doors, and it causes alarm every time! We don't trust Dodge again because they will use our money for B.S. excuse! It was at Dodge company, Georgetown, Texas near Round Rock, Texas. I paid almost 2000 dollars.

The van would not start reliably, often leaving my wife stranded at the store or school. Did some online research and found out that Dodge has an issue with the TIPM. I ordered and replaced the TIPM myself and had to have the dealership program it. The front directional blinkers stopped working after this was done and still don’t work. Dodge quality is awful. I have many issues with this vehicle.

Yet another customer who is having problems starting the car intermittently, likely due to the TIPM. We did have it diagnosed by the local mechanic. After reading all of the reviews about the faulty TIPM and the lack of success with replacing the TIPM actually fixing the car, we have decided to not get it repaired yet. However, we may change our mind and go for the repair if the problem persists as it has over the last month. We are hoping that Dodge does the right thing and recalls the part or we will not be a Dodge customer again.

Won't start/hard to start. My problem has yet to be fixed. I am so upset, I don't know what to do. Took my Van to CR Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Adrian Michigan (several times) with the starting issues. When the weather is damp it is harder to start. 1st visit (Sept. 29 2016 Mileage 68236) They "Diag Diagnosis/System Testing" it, ($59.95+tax) replaced the housing- thermostat (never even knew that was a problem), replaced the crankshaft position sensor, oil change. Grand total of $402.40!! Took it home...same problems Won't start/ Hard to start. 2nd Visit Oct. 4, 2016 mileage 68302 couldn't find a problem, but did something under warranty to the transmission, I had to pay for the filter that wasn't covered under warranty ($26.08) 3rd Visit..same problem..mileage 68643 Replaced rear upstream 02 sensor $218.33!! 4th visit (Nov. 19, 2016 mileage said it was the fuel pump, but would have to wait 2 weeks for them to get a fuel pump (hard to come by). So I went to Auto Zone got one for $325.41 got it put in for $100.00. So got fixed. Now a few days later and its still having problems starting. Called the dealer back (CR) and he just brushed me off saying I had to take it back to the mechanic that put the fuel pump in to make sure it wasn't bad...I am so pissed!! All along I kept telling the dealer that I read that the timp was bad on 2011 and they said it wasn't that!! Please if anyone knows what I should do please let me know!!!

I have a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan Crew with under 46,000 miles. Car is driveway kept. Pretty much every day the car would not start, since October. It would crank but not start. Eventually, either by 15 cranks,(shifting it into neutral sometimes to start) or 6 times...eventually started. Took car to dealership 1st time and they found nothing and it started. They updated 4 software updates. Cost me $85.00. They said that may be the problem...NOT. Next day same problem. And constantly continued. I also had my side doors going back and forth, possessed, twice. Researched internet for problem and found issues with the TIPM. Told them it was the TIPM. They said they could not replace it until their meter shows it is the TIPM. After all it is a $1400.00 deal and they want the dealership to get reimbursed if it is under warranty. Told them I paid $28,000 for the car and I really don't care. Chrysler should stand behind their product. Took the car back the second time, told the dealer to keep the car outside, I feel cold is a catalyst...which they didn't. Always started. Told them again to keep the car outside! Finally on the 6th, day they left the car outside. Guess what...it did not start. They called and said it was the TIPM and was not covered under my extended warranty. Cost me $1428.45, which did not make me happy. Less than $46,000 and Chrysler does not want to recall, especially when they know there is a problem with the TIPM. Shows the kind of company they are. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM CHRYSLER. I WILL ALSO WARN EVERYONE, NOT TO BUY A CAR FROM THEM. THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT!

Yesterday my 2011 Grand Caravan Crew was turning over but not starting. I tried it many times during the day and nothing. I did some research and have ordered the fuel pump relay bypass and will have a friend fix it. Today the car started up just like there was nothing wrong. I hope the part comes in soon and I hope I don't get stranded anywhere. If Dodge knows about this issue (which they obviously do) they should issue a recall. What a pain in the butt. Glad I did my research and did not take it to the dealership.

If this is a common item that can be misdiagnosed as a fuel pump issue, and other vehicles using the same parts have been recalled then all vehicles with the TIPM should be fixed for free / recalled.

Update from Jan 3, 2017: Fought with garage to do the recall from the Jeep TIPM. Garage used the part number provided by me from recall. Kept trying to get me to buy a fuel pump. When I said if replacing the fuel pump didn't fix it would they eat the cost. (Guess what answer was).

I first took van to Dodge dealership for a recall repair with the electrical problem on the driver side door panel switch that opens the back wing glasses could cause a fire if not repaired. While at the dealership I explained the problems I had been experiencing with the check engine light & I had been experiencing problems with the van loosing excellration power. However at this time the check engine light wasn't on,although they put it on the computer but never found a solution for the problem. I was charged $91.00 for the diagnostic test & was told that since the van was about to reach 100.000 miles it would be in my best interest if I had the plugs & sensors changed which would run around $500to $600 but wasn't guaranteed that would fix the problem. So I declined to Not have it done by dealership. My private mechanic changed the plugs at a much cheaper rate. However that never helped with the excellration problem. At this time I was recommended to take it to another mechanic because at this time the van was becoming hard to start. It was if the starter would become stuck in the grinding mode. After performing several diagnostic test & finally checking the TIPM & the fuel pump we were told the fuel pump was working properly & the TIPM was the problem. So the mechanic used a TIPM bypass relay cable. After driving the van a couple days I drove about 35 miles out of town. While I haven't had any problems with it not starting after this last repair I felt comfortable enough to drive it out of town. BAD IDEA! While stoping at a busy intersection the van Just Died...tried several times to start it with No Luck,I then called 911 to report my stalled vehicle because I was afraid of being re-ended in the busy intersection. While on the phone reporting the problem to police I finally got it started so I preceded to continue my rounds the officer advised me to call them back if the problem occurred again. So as I started down the highway it died on me again,this time I was able to cost into a parking lot & called AAA to come & transport my van to the garage to have the repairs done on it. Having to rent a car from Enterprise just to be able to finish my errands & dr.appointments. So now the van is at garage waiting for me to make the desision on buying a New TIPM or sending mine off to have it refurnished. So today I called Dodge Customer Service to find out if there had been any recalls on my 2011 Dodge Caravan,only to find out thier are no recalls on this model but there has been on other Dodge products. Hoping there will be a recall soon because of all the vehicle's that Dodge has reports of bad Tipm's.

After paying $1200 to have the TIPM "fixed", the problem persisted. It will still randomly not start. Took it back to dealer a week after the "fix" but since they could not duplicate the problem, they could do NOTHING (it started every time they tried it there - of course - because it is a random occurence!). Basically i have to wait until i get stranded somewhere and it will not start after a few tries to have it towed there with no guarantee that i will not have to pay more to "fix" something else...very frustrating process. I just took it in after battling for 3 months with random no starts...waiting to see what they will say. Wish me luck!

Car would not crank unless you turned the key to acc, off, acc, off, acc, off and then started it. Dealership said it was TIPM and replaced it. Car worked for a few days then started the same thing again. So tired of dealing with this crap that we got it to crank and took it to another dealership and bought a new car. No more Dodge vehicles for me. Would like to get my money back on that repair though. $1284 to replace a part that did not fix the issue!? Dodge dealership needs to figure out how to diagnose and repair issues instead of guessing.

I enjoy my 2011 Grand Caravan Crew when it starts it runs flawlessly; but each morning for the last 45 days or so I don't know if it will start.

Long story short, with a little experimenting, I can get the van to start. With the key fob out of the ignition, I get out with the door open grab the top of the door frame and rock the van from side to side, then turning the fob slowly, I step on the gas just before I turn the starter on and it starts.

Yet another (2011) Dodge Grand Caravan TIPM failure. Car would turn over but not start; our regular mechanic suspected the fuel pump, but was having trouble getting power to the pump. Since there was a power module involved, he suggested the dealership before doing a fuel pump replacement that might turn out to be unnecessary. Had car towed to the dealership and, yes, it was the fuel pump relay within the TIPM, which means replacing the whole module. $1,240 later, the car starts again. Kudos to my regular mechanic for recognizing the potential issue and not sticking me with an unneeded repair, and kudos to the local Dodge dealership for a quick diagnosis and turnaround.

HOWEVER, Chrysler/Dodge KNOWS these defective modules are out there and they KNOW that the ones that are failing in Caravans are the same ones that failed in Durangos and Cherokees, for which a class action lawsuit already forced them to pay. They really need to step up to the plate and pay for all the TIPMs that are replaced. I don't think a recall is in order -- there doesn't seem to be a high enough number of safety issues vs. how many of these modules out out there.

Certainly in my case, there were no safety concerns -- the car just wouldn't start. This is a significant amount of money to lay out for a repair of a part that, in my opinion, should last the life of the vehicle -- I mean, it supplies and regulates power for all the components in the entire car! Also, extremely disappointed the the NHSTB dropped the case regarding the TIPM. Again, I understand the safety component wasn't very significant (for them), but there aren't that many venues that we, as consumers, have to force the auto makers to do the right thing and pay for known defects that they've been selling for years.

First presented itself as airbag indicator light progress into random locking and unlocking of doors then random opening and closing of powerslide rear doors and random opening and closing of Windows and only starting with remote start. Now it won't start at all unless you jump it off of another vehicle. I'm paying $324.00 per month for a lawn ornament that's depressing and embarrassing.
