Grand Caravan ES V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,070 miles

THE PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE IS THAT WHEN A/C IS SELECTED THE DRIVERS SIDE WORKS, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AND REAR BLOWS HOT AIR. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND DODGE SHOULD MAN UP AND FIX THIS UNDER A RECALL. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT I WILL GIVE DODGE CARAVAN A VERY BAD REVIEW IF ASKED. I THINK I MIGHT START A SOCIAL MEDIA BLITZ ON THIS PROBLEM AND SEE IF I CAN GET ENOUGH FOLLOWERS TO GET DODGE'S ATTENTION.

WHAT A DISGRACEFUL COP OUT ON DODGE'S PART. I AM INFORMED THAT THEY ARE LOOKING AT A BETTER DESIGN FOR NEWER MODELS, WHICH INDICATED THAT DODGE IS FULLY AWARE OF THEIR PROBLEM.

POOR ENGINEERING AND DESIGN.

WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER DODGE PRODUCT.

Problem solved I guess. Learned off the web to turn both left and right controls in sync 3 times, all the way and back. Almost like the left side forgot where it was.

Our van was just about 5 months old and our heater went out. It would only blow cold air in the dead of winter. It was horrible! We ended up having to take it to the dealership and they had to replace the control panel because they couldn't figure out what the issue was. By replacing it fixed the issue, until the next time, which did happen. I've never purchased a dodge and this was not a good impression on the first new car I have ever purchased.

no heat drivers side'

This is a "new" van for me (owed it 4 months), and I had high hopes that this van would be nice. Now, thanks to this frustrating problem that A LOT of Caravan owners are having too, I do no consider this van nice...it is a frustration. This problem MUST be fixed by the Chrysler Corp. since this is a very common lemon problem; there NEEDS to be a recall! Do you think I would buy a Chrysler product again?!

The Driver's side temperature works as required. The passenger side only blows hot. There is no change when changing Temp or any setting. I have looked on the internet and it looks very common and yet Dodge will not recall or honour? I had the same thing happen last spring and a battery disconnect cured it. I can only assume it is an electrical or calibration issue. I am a loyal FCA customer with a Dodge Magnum, Dodge Grand Caravan and Jeep! I will not have a dealer repair this DEFECT for $100s of dollars out of my pocket. If I am required to pay to to fix poor engineering, I will have it done at a local garage for half the price.

One of first things I noticed was that the defrost didn't leak when set to floor when I bought it. When the outside temperature is cold (-20,-30) a slow warm up of the windshield is required or the glass will break at chip points from winter sanding and gravel on the road (we all have chips and many cracked windshields in Canada). and yes my windshield broke when the blast of hot air warmed the lower part on a very cold day. Another problem when its very cold out is the volume of air dries my eyes and heats the upper vehicle while the floor remains cold, again this is while the defrost is off and floor heat is on. The heater worked well the first winter but no more. repeated attempts to fix by resetting electronically failed, a slight improvement only. It was agreed the performance changed and was a problem but when they failed to fix it easily they claimed the reset fixed it ( a lie) and that it was covered under warranty although they tried and did not succeed in getting me to pay for the diagnostic work at one of a few appointments. I was told by one of the staff the real reason was the relationship between dealer and manufacturer involving whether they would be paid for certain kinds of warranty repairs.
