2009 Dodge Journey had to have brakes and rotors replaced at 16,000. Brought vehicle in for tire rotation and found out everything needed replacing. Unheard of. Vehicle repair technician informed me that he has been seeing an abnormal amount of 2009 Journey's/Caravan's with the same issue. Dodge must be putting on sub-par brakes for this to be happening. No accident occurred...but I wasn't expecting to replace at only 16,000. I've seen others on a Dodge forum website that have had to replace even sooner. Whatever you can do to help. It's like david fighting goliath.

2009 Dodge Journey brake issues. Car was bought new in Jan 09 and in Nov 09 the brakes are worn out. Brake ware is uneven from front to back and side to side. Mileage on the car is about 22,000 miles. If you look at www.carcomplaints.com/Dodge/Journey/2009/brakes/noisy_brakes.shtml you will find two complains of brakes wearing out way to early. If you look at www.dodgejourneyforum.com/index.php?showtopic=463 there are 6 pages of people talking about issues with brakes wearing out at or before 22K miles. Seems like a safety issue to me that brakes don't last a year. Seems they are wearing out at about half of what their life should be. Seems to me that the brakes are not sized right or the pads they use are not formulated to last or the rotors have issues that cause them to rub the pad.

My 2009 Dodge Journey required new rotors and brake pads at under 20K miles - the back brakes needed to be changed by 25K miles. Dealer service center could not give a reason as to why both sets of brakes would need to be changed so soon. After researching on the internet this was found to be a common problem. Brakes that need to be changed before 15K miles or you have to change the rotors as well seems to be a defect to me. I believed the squeak was due to "dirt in the wheel wells", as I was told when I took it in at 15K miles.... this is very dangerous as well as costly. I am now at almost 30K miles and the squeak is back. Changing brakes every 15K miles is ludicrous.

I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey. At 22,000 miles the brakes failed. The front brake pads had completely worn to the metal. The rotors where gouged terribly. The rear were ok"...the dealer stated "they must be using soft pads"???"....unsafe to drive, brake failure could occur at any moment. The 19' tires do not match the very small brake assembly...and Dodge's "bumper to bumper" warranty is a lie.

Have a 2009 Dodge Journey and need a whole new transmission at 11,000 miles and now at 13,000 miles I needed brake pads. Still have whining noise that no dealer can figure out what it is. I have already had the radio replaced, a recall completed and several other items fixed. In less than a year. Unfortunately, I can not afford to trade it in.
