Journey SXT 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles

Well I was driving and it has happened quite a few times. I just bought this vehicle 3 months ago. When I am driving if I barely tap the gear shift it pops out of gear. I hit it with my elbow the other day while driving and it went into park and I hit my head pretty hard to the point I saw stars. I used to test drive these and do not remember them doing this. So can you point me to who i contact about this. I drive daily for my job as a lease termination inspector and do not feel safe in this vehicle anymore. I feel this is a serious issue which could cause injury to others or even death.

Journey SXT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,000 miles

I bought my 2012 Dodge Journey SXT brand new in June 2012. A year later, engine head recall and replaced. No other issues until yesterday. I have 106,000 (mostly highway) miles on my vehicle. It has been regularly serviced with oil changes and normal wear and tear fixes over the past three years. Yesterday, while 700 miles from home and on a highway, my transmission acted like it was in neutral when it was still in drive. I was going 65 miles per hour and luckily no one was directly behind me. Long story short, the Dodge transmission expert said that the transmission is shot and my car is un-driveable. New transmission=$6000.

I have had other cars to almost 200,000 miles with NO transmission issues, and even after accidents. This Dodge has never been in an accident, has had regular service, and the transmission is out after 106,000 miles (without warning--no other little mishaps that were clues, this happened out of the blue). I will NEVER own another Dodge. DO NOT BUY a Dodge Journey.
