Neon 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 79,535 miles

Car will not start. Hooked up jumper cable to battery and that did not work. Put gas in tank to ensure fuel was in the tank. Don't know if the starter is bad, the fuel filter is dirty and causing the problem. There is power in the car, radio/lights/dash lights. Can you give any suggestions.

Engine starts but won't stay running / won't idle. Have to give constant gas for a minute or so. Happens at random. Fuel additives seem to help but issue returns.

Neon SXT 2.0L

There are times i go out to start my car and it will not stay running unless i hold the gas down. It will not idle at all sometimes and others it only last 5-10 minutes. I am very irritated with this car because it is becoming less reliable.

The engine never comes on. The car will not start. I called the Dodge dealership where I bought the car new. They looked at the car and had no idea what to do to fix the problem. OK.. Great! The Dodge dealership just showed me why I will never buy a Dodge again even if I come from a Dodge family. I called Dodge Corporate office and all they said was buy a new car and told me about specials on a Dodge Dart. I will buy a new car but not a Dodge unless they are to go give me one since my warranty on my neon is still active.

Neon SX 2.0

  • Manual transmission
  • 62,137 miles

I bought a Dodge Neon 2 yers ago and it was great. Then I started working on the other side of the city. I came out one evening after my shift to a car that would not start. I had it jumped to no avail. I had to have it towed that night. The mechanic took a look at it and determined it was dirty spark plugs, not till after he installed a new battery. The car worked great for about 3 weeks. Then I went out in the am to go to work and the darn car wouldn't start again. I had my Dad come over and he rattled around under the hood and the car just started out of the blue. I drove it around the block and was finally calming down. I parked it and then tried to start it again after about 5 minutes. Nothing. I had the mechanic come out to my home by this point and he installed a new starter. The car still won't start. He hooked up a computer to it but said according to his computer, the car doesn't know whats wrong with it. The lights come on as does the radio but the car won't even click. Irritating!! So now I have a car sitting in my driveway barried under snow trying to figure out whats wrong with it and I still have 4 years to pay it off. GREAT! Any help will do please. :)

Neon

  • Manual transmission

The factory seal had broken for the engine computer and fried it. There was corrosion all over inside of it. I thought it was the battery. Replaced it. Thought it was the starter and had it tested but it was the engine computer or pcu. I'm wondering whether there is a recall on this item because it seems to be on back order at this time. Not happy.

Neon

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,000 miles

December 2009 Put Neon in garage and drove Cavalier as the Neon was not handling well on ice. -Had almost half a tank of gas in it.

February 23, 2010 Tried to start Neon, turned over 3-4 times before it wouldn’t turn over at all – dead silence. We tried to jump the battery but that did not make a difference.

February 26th Put a new battery in the Neon – still would not turn over, dead silence.

February 27th Dad and Brother came over and put a charger on the battery. Car would turn over but not start, tried this couple of times. Brother turned the car over and held the gas pedal down – car started. We drove up to the gas station to put gas in it, drove around town just fine. Went home, and drove it an hour later, it started fine. Went to start it roughly 2 hours later and it would turn over but not start. On the third try it went silent again (no clicking just silence). Put a bottle of heat in gas tank – still silent.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG AND I JUST BOUGHT THE FN THING!

Neon SXT 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

well Ive had my 05 for about 9 months it had 20,000 on it when I got it I have had nothing but pure problems both control arm bushing were blown which when i took it to the dealer they said that they didn't see anything wrong with them they had 3 guys look at it and say the same thing then I walked out and pointed out that they ripped out on top I have a clunking in the front end they told me that radiator bracket is bent and the factory warranty don't cover that I had to replace the brakes on it. Also the transmission acts up .It acts like it drops out of gear and slips every once in a while but the dealer tells me that there is nothing wrong with it cause their computer would pick it up but their not there ones whose driving it I feel like they just didn't want to fix it. Now that my factory warranty is up I bet they would tell me it needs fixed but Ill do it myself before I will pay their outrageous price. and now its sitting at my job broke down if u turn the key over the car does nothing the starter don't make a noise and I don't even hear the fuel pump kick on we jumped a wire from the battery directly to the starter and the car turned over but wont start. I have had more problems with this car than I ever had with my old one which has 250000 miles on it and its still going I will never buy another one . And now Im left searching the net trying to come up with a solution this car drive me nuts

Neon SXT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

That was just one of my problems with this car. It was the P something that went out. Viking dodge tried blaming the radio we put in but that was BS since it was installed soon after purchase. They wanted $900 to fix but my fiance went in and bitched. Well then all of a sudden it was only $300. $100 of it was just to unclog a hose. Now I have 56,000 miles and the fuel pump went out. We took to it to 2 different dealerships and both told us nothing was wrong. And Boom not even a month later I was stranded on the side of the road in freezing winter weather waiting for road side assistance. Now I could understand these problems if the car was not properly maintained and was 10yrs old. But that is not the case it is only 2 years old and properly taken care of. I have had more problems with this car than I did with my car that was 11 yrs old and had 140 something thousand miles. I would never recommend this car or the dealership I purchased it from. Everyone I know that has had a neon has had some gripe about the car.
