Lights and door locks come on by themselves. I'm 72 years old on social security and cannot afford to get this fixed. Dodge dealer toldd me they thought it was a module and it costs $373 to fin out which module it was plûe the cost of the module could run up to $1'000 depending on which module it was. This is just one of the problems I have had. Last year I spent over $2500 on the air conditioner. Why isn't Chrysler fixing the problems they have so many complaints on. I would never recommend anyone buying a Dodge/Chrysler car. I can't find my vin number or where to look.

Purchased Vehicle in November 2007. Notified Dealership in 2010 about issues. Windows rolling down by themselves, horn sounding in the middle of night, lights flashing, seem like at times engine was die out while driving, steering wheel goes around 360 degree (in other words felt like the vehicle was possessed). All along, Dealer knew there was a problem with the TIPM which was recalled in July 2007 but didn't discuss during purchase or repair problem. Made me believe it was the alternator and other issues.

Windshield washer comes on when ever it wants to and sprays water on the windshield. The door locks click and go up and down continually until they decide to stop. It is very distracting. I paid $31,000 for this car and was hopeful it would be my last one. Now I do not feel safe in it and cannot drive very far until these problems happen.

After my research I believe the TIPM system needs to be replaced with one that is not defective. I paid in good faith and I keep my obligations up so I would have a good car and now to find out that Chrysler knew about this and that there is no fix for it that can be proven to be a permanent fix. I am disheartened to see Chrysler not recalling these cars and fixing them, this should be their obligation. What do we have to do, pay a lawyer to sue the Chrysler Co? I truly just want my car fixed. I have always like this car and at this point in my life, 71 years old, I cannot afford to pay at least $20,000 to buy a fairly new car. Come on, Chrysler do what is right and fix your mistakes.

Nitro SLT 3.7L V6

The car has had a number of times when the power windows refused to work properly.

The tire TPM is showing in the dash as "check TPM". I had that reset a few months ago and it stopped showing for a few months. The TPM warning has again started a couple of weeks ago.

Two weeks ago the check engine light came on. The computer test says it is a leak in the catalytic converter. Now I am not sure if the reading is correct even though I found a few complaints of aged cracked connections.

This morning the horn in the car started going off in a random beeping. To insure it was not a random radio signal causing the issue I started the car and drove away for about 3 minutes. The horn continued to beep at different rates and different durations as I drove those few blocks.

I am concerned that other issues concerning the TIPM. After reading the issues related to the recall I believe the car could be in trouble of stalling or loss of control of vital systems. My family rides with me in this car. It is our only car. I drive on interstate regularly. Loss of electronically controlled system would be disastrous.

I believe all of these issues are related to the TIPM.

Currently only the drivers side door unlocks & my rear hatch & sunroof won't open. When I press the power door unlock switch in the vehicle or on my key, the majority of the time my doors will not unlock (only the driver door). I have to unroll the windows all the way down & have my passengers manually pull the locks up so they can get in. I can't haul anything in the back as the rear hatch does not open about 95% of the time. Sometimes when I'm driving, I hear the locks clicking as if I had pressed the lock/unlock switch. Also, the interior lights flash off & on by themselves for some reason when I'm driving. I've had this vehicle since 2007 & there has been issues with the locks & windows not working on & off throughout the years.

I wish I would have kept track of everything. I did take my vehicle to a repair shop this week & they told me I would need to replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM), all my problems were related to this. I was told the part is around $700 plus labor & they would need to get it directly from the dealer. I decided to wait & see if there were any recalls or if other people were having this same issue. It's extremely annoying to not have my doors & rear hatch unlock & not be able to use my sunroof.

I am unable to unlock my doors due to this TIMP issue. It is going to cost me $1,200 to fix. I cannot even use my back hatch, because there is no other way to unlock the hatch. This is beyond annoying, and after reading how many other people are having the same issue I do not understand why this isn't a recalled part and fix. Someone needs to look into this issue.

A few months before the car was taken to the mechanic and then subsequently to the dealership in October, my car started experiencing lights flashing, locks going up and down as though someone was clicking the keys to get in. No one around. This was witness by my grandkids while outside. I experienced myself as well a few times. Then the car radio went out and I thought I needed a new car radio but did not have it replaced but had someone check the fuses. The fuses were fine.

Apparently, my car lights go on and off while parked anywhere. A few mornings the car battery was dead and it was a fairly new battery of about a year and half old. My son in law gave me a boost on one occasion and miraculously the car radio which had not worked for a few months started to work. The car battery died again and I brought it to my mechanic who told me it was an electrical issue and I had to bring it to the dealership.

I brought to dealership and they worked on it on and off for about two weeks. They cannot find anything wrong with it and suggested I change the battery. Thank god it was under warranty. I brought it back to my mechanic who replaced the battery (where I originally purchased it). I had spent a little over $300 to correct a few minor things like the check engine light, replace the fuel cap etc.at that time.

Door locks work at varying times. I have to walk around the car to lock the doors and back latch has no manual lock. I've tried replacing the battery in the key lock but I also have issues with the door locks on the inside of car working. Radio on and off, meaning it works then will just go silent. The Nitro has been a good vehicle with the exception of this annoying problem with the door lock system. The problem has been on going for years. I have had it in to the Dodge dealer but they never fix the problem. I bought the lifetime warranty when I bought the car. They either say they can't replicate it or it is intermittent and they don't know how to solve it. I was looking on this site to see if anyone had a fix for it but it seems the answer is no. How can a major auto company not be able to troubleshoot this issue and provide it's customers with a proper fix?

My 2007 Dodge Nitro was fine and all of a sudden the windshield wipers would not turn off and all the warning lights on the dash were on PLUS NONE of the electrical features would work, radio, door locks, windows, NOTHING but the sun roof. I have read that there is a recall for certain 2011 to 2013 Nitro for this issue but not the 2007. It needs to be a recall since reading reviews on this site and other sites. It was very expensive to fix and thankfully I had the money! After reading the reviews and thinking back I have always had issues with it starting, it would start but it may take a few times. Could it be related,. I guess I will find out once I get my car back tomorrow!

Bought the 2007 Dodge Nitro brand new and there have been issues with this car within the first year. To start, there are a total of three windows broken within five years; along with the A/C (until my husband repaired it this year). Yet, today took the cake in regards to the things going wrong with this vehicle. At work this morning only for the owner of the business next door to come in and inform me that my horn is going off. When I get outside, the horn of my car is going off sporadically.

I open the door and start the car to see if there are any other issues and the car started fine. Waited another minute or two with no horn blows and walked back inside office. A minute or two later the horn blowing started again, but this time it was constant and very loud (I never heard the horn so loud before). In order to get the horn to stop I had to remove the fuses of the horn.

I was driving taking my daughter to school and ran over a small dip in the road and my Nitro just shut off with no warning at all. I was almost rear ended. I started the truck back up and at the time didn't realize it had caused an issues until a few months later. The vehicle has not done it since, however I feel maybe it was just the first of many electrical issues I have had since I bought the vehicle.
