Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,907 miles

For some reason Dodge has something called 2nd gear (Prime) which will destroy the clutches to overdrive if you pass a vehicle over 45 miles per hour, and the transmission drops down to 2nd gear. So you can't put the accelerator pedal to the floor to pass at or above 45 mph because you take the chance this transmission will go into 2nd prime, causing major transmission problems requiring the overhaul, or replacement of the transmission, costing the owner around $3,000.00 to fix. Many people have had this failure with the 545RFE transmission.

My truck, a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, was purchased in Dec. 2013 with 57,000 miles, the transmission failed in Nov. 2015 at 72,907 miles. Prior to the failure, around 2,400 miles, I had the transmission fluid cooler replaced with a new Ram 3500 transmission fluid cooler, the transmission fluid, and filters were also replaced.

Ram 1500 ST 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 3 YEARS/36,000 MILES. I DO NOT THINK A TRUCK THAT HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT AND IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD SHOULD HAVE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THAT DOESN'T SAY MUCH FOR THE QUALITY OF THE DODGE TRUCK. I SPOKE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DID NOT OFFER ME ANY ASSISTANCE. SHAME ON THEM. I WILL NEVER BUY A DODGE AGAIN.

Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

I recently bought this 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega cab from a dealer in Tulsa, Ok. It had only ONE previous owner and had all scheduled maintenance. At around 19000 miles after the warranty expired the transmission broke. I am very disappointed in this. I am having to borrow another truck while I save for the next three months so I can afford to have this transmission rebuilt. This is totally going to ruin Christmas. :-( I now know why Dodge only offer 36000 mile warranties. It is because the expensive parts will break before 100000 miles!

This is the second of three Dodge brand vehicles that I have owned in my life and I am seriously considering switching brands when it comes to buying my next vehicle. It also concerns me about my 06 dodge charger that has around 50k miles. Is it going to break as well??? My frustration is overwhelmed by disappointment and sadness in this situation as I continue to work hard and come home to a truck I am making payments on but have no ability to drive because of the sad craftsmanship that Dodge has now become. First I contacted customer service through dodge.com and they told me to call my local dealer to see if they would offer some assistance. When I contacted my local dealer to ask for some assistance he told me that since I was not the original owner of the vehicle the chances of the district manager giving his approval for assistance was very very slim. Is this the customer service that they expect out of their people? I expected more out of Dodge and the "Ram" brands. Very disappointing.

Well I bought a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi with 18000 miles on it, the older man who had it before me only drove it when he was home from a pipe line, he called it show truck. I must say at first i was very pleased with it at first, but it wasn't 5 week after having it that the transmission started popping when it shifted from FIRST to SECOND gear when I would go up a slight incline, and it stopped for a while and here recently it has started popping when I'm in reverse and try to over about 7 mph!

if you know what is wrong or have had the same problems please shed some light on problem so I can stop it before it gets worse!

Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,000 miles

I bought the Dodge Ram 1500 used with only 8,000 miles on it. Immediately after buying it I noticed a sporadic problem that would occur when trying to go in reverse. The car would pop out of reverse and you could only rev the engine. You would have to put the truck back in park and try again to get it to work. This problem was finally fix after 2 visits to the dealer. They said they had to make a software update. Then I had to take the car in again this month in June because the truck will make a thumping sound when braking. It would only thump once each time I braked. They said it sounded like a transmission issue. I only have 16000 miles on the truck now and have only had the truck a year and 3 month and have been in and out of the dealership.

Ram 1500 SLT TRX4 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,100 miles

I bought a brand new dodge 1500 and I had it for a couple of months. It started not wanting to kick down in overdrive and I took it in after the check engine light came on. I had a 3rd gear error in the transmission and I was like 'ok'. Well, they told me that it was ok to drive until they got the part in. A week later the damn truck lost overdrive and drive so they go and rebuilt the tranny. They would not give me a new one so they rebuilt it - put all new parts except a torque converter. About 3,000 miles later the tranny goes out again. The tranny was burnt so they finally put a new tranny and a new torque converter in it. I was hoping my problem was finally over but I got 17,000 miles on it now and it's sitting at my mom and dad's house with transmission problems again. They don't know why the tranny keeps going out so now I'm stuck paying for a truck I cannot drive. After this truck I will never buy another dodge product again
