I was driving on my way to work and the ABS light, limited slip light, esp light and brake light all came on. I went to my local mechanic and had the computer scanned for the code. I called the dealership and they said to bring it in, but I would have to pay for a diagnostics fee. I looked up and there is a service bulletin for this exact problem due to bad software loaded into 125,000+ vehicles. I was told this was something that I would have to pay for. In the past couple months, I have spoken to 4 other 2009 Ram 1500 owners who have all experienced the exact same problem. This vehicle is known by Dodge to have an ABS problem and should be considered unsafe to drive until they admit they need to fix it!!!

My sons friend was driving my new Dodge truck, when the vehicle in front of him (10 car lengths) stopped - he applied the brakes and the peddle went to the floor ( no pressure). They rear ended the truck which was in front of them (no damage to that vehicle) the front of my truck is crunched (luckily that's all this time) some one could have been killed. After the incident my son checked the peddle himself, no pressure was felt until the peddle was pumped multiple times. I checked online and there is a recall for this vehicles brakes dating to January although I was never notified. I plan on contacting Chrysler about the damage and lack of notification.

Ram 1500

  • 7,000 miles
I had the tires rotated at 7000 + miles, when I got the truck back, I noticed a slight vibration. As time went by the vibration got worse. I took the truck back to the dealer, in ft. Pierce six weeks later but because I drive a 1,000 miles per week, it hat 13,000 + miles and they said it was out of warranty. I took the truck to a private shop and they found the rear brake rotors warped so they turned the rotors and balance the tires. It was better but still had a vibration at interstate speeds. I took the truck to the Dodge dealer in vero beach and they spun the tires on the rims and rebalanced the tires. It got a little better but it still has a vibration that is hard to live with.

The driver applied pressure to the brake pedal, followed by no power response. The vehicle crashed into a ditch. The driver sustained a broken nose. The police and ambulance were called to the scene. The vehicle was completely destroyed and towed to a local collision center. The failure mileage was 24,800. Updated 03/01/10. Updated 0513/10.8jb

Within a short time after purchasing my 2009 Ram 1500 quad cab 4X4, I noticed that the brakes pulled hard left on aggressive braking. Dealership found problem was brake pads. They replaced them and all is fine now.
