Ram 1500 SLT V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 132,000 miles

There is a problem with everything electrically related to the truck. Truck stalls on the road while driving, won't start up at all on some occasions, others it's fine. Once the truck starts, all of the dash warning lights come on. (check engine, ABS, low windshield wiper fluid, voltage, low oil pressure, etc) The truck is not safe and now sits in the driveway! According to Dodge's own website:

"WE'RE COMMITTED TO YOUR SAFETY

FCA US LLC regards the safety and security of our customers and their families as paramount and is fully committed to producing a vehicle with long-lasting reliability.

Your confidence in our products and our service is of the utmost importance to us. As a result of our commitment to you, we may periodically recall a vehicle to correct a problem or improve overall performance and integrity."

Well right now for many Dodge owners your cars are not safe, reliable or long lasting!

Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

I have multiple issues going on with My 2009 RAM 1500 Laramie. The following lays out the problem and what I believe is the fix....Still yet to get this done though.

Problem 1. Instrument cluster continually loses bus and shuts down while driving without any loss of power. Instruments go down briefly and come back on followed by windshield wipers making one pass.

Problem 2. Fan motor continually comes on and off on its own.

Problem 3. Blend door actuator has broken the blend door hinge. (This is a complicated one) Recall A17 addresses the actuator problem by replacing it...it DOES NOT address any damage it caused to the door itself.

* Dodge redesigned the lower end box that houses the doors and made the new resigned lower end box incompatible with the existing control head. This is forcing me to have to purchase a new control head AND lower HVAC box. All due to and directly related to a recall on the actuator problem.

After months of being in and out of the dealer with NO resolve but hundreds of dollars of my money spent to trouble shoot the issues, I decided to see if I could find an answer on my own.

MY CONCLUSION: ..I believe that all 3 issues are related to the control head.

Although the control head is working, I believe it has an intermittent short, causing the occasional loss of ground to the fan blower and the occasional loss of buss to the instrument cluster.

Additionally, the recall A17 (dealing with the actuator) was performed on my truck years prior to now, but I believe that it has somehow (due to a short of some kind in the reprogrammed control head) caused the actuator to AGAIN apply to much force to the blend door, breaking both the gears on the actuator and the blend door itself.

The New control head is 3X more expensive than the original and has a different part # than the original, getting it replaced under the warranty is approved, However, getting the new one replaced for the old one is out of the question! WHAT!! This makes NO sense!!!

The dealer refuses to acknowledge the control head as being the culprit??? HELP!!!

Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,500 miles

Truck randomly starts this crap!! Wipers run continuously, every warning light comes on on the dash, dash doesn't work-NO SPEEDOMETER, gas gauge, Radio goes off, no seat heaters or coolers, NO BLINKERS, no bright lights. Almost like an electrical failure!

Have brought this to the dealership many times over the last 3 months and they still can't fix it. Got the runaround "It has to be doing it so we can hook it up to our machine" so when I did get it in there, they said 16 "trouble codes" came up. Well then, you'd think they could fix it...BUT NO!!! Still does it, have brought it back again, but they still didn't fix it!!!
